This disgusting boss looks like something out of a player’s nightmare and can be tricky to defeat. Players can get one-shotted by the stomping attack over and over again if they’re not careful. Still, the attack patterns of this boss are relatively easy to predict, and players should be able to take out this boss without too much trouble, as long as they don’t stick around its legs for too long.

Lore

A distant descendant of the primordial archdragons, the Gaping Dragon survived the war against the bearer of the Lord Souls and had to survive by any means necessary. It made a home for itself in the Depths, slowly becoming corrupted and turning into a hideous abomination.

Players who assume that this boss is easy will be in for a rude awakening when they get too comfortable in the darkness and die as a result. The Ashen One must remain in the light at all times, which can be pretty tricky given Wolnir’s erratic movements.

Lore

Wolnir was a wily figure who brought the lords of Carthus to their knees and became the one true High Lord. Despite his fear of the darkness, and using everything from a holy sword to radiant bangles to ward it off, Wolnir eventually succumbed to the madness of the Abyss and became a shadow of his former self.

The Alonne Knights that jump the player time and time again are annoying to deal with and must be taken out if players don’t want to take unnecessary damage before this boss fight every single time. The only respite players have is that this wolf starts limping after taking substantial damage, making it easier to finish off this boss in the final stages. However, most people will shed tears after defeating this boss if they’re aware of the lore surrounding it.

Lore

Sif was loyal to his master, Artorias, and accompanied him at all times. However, after Artorias slowly loses himself to the madness of the Abyss, Sif spends the rest of his days guarding the grave of his master, which is where the Chosen Undead encounters him. This emotional boss fight becomes even more of a tearjerker if Sif recognizes the player from their foray in the past in the Artorias of the Abyss DLC when they freed a young Sif who was left sheltered behind Artorias’ greatshield. If players complete the DLC before fighting Sif in the main game, they will get an alternate cutscene where Sif recognizes their scent, making this fight exponentially more tragic.

He is included in Dark Souls 2‘s Crown of the Sunken King DLC as its final boss, which reflects the dragon’s difficulty level.

Once worshiped by the people of Shulva, things took a turn for the worse when Sir Yorgh and the Drakeblood Knights tried to steal Sinh’s blood for their nefarious purposes. This caused Sinh to go berserk and expel all the toxins from his body, drowning Shulva in poison sludge in the process.

The fight is a challenging one, as Gundyr is faster than before while juggling the player with a suite of powerful moves.

Gundyr was a chosen warrior just like the Ashen One but arrived too late to the Firelink Shrine. The Fire Keeper was long gone and there was no fire to protect. As a result, Gundyr became a fighter who would test the mettle of any person who embarks on a quest to save the world.

This fight is a challenging one. This chimera-like being leaps across the arena and hits the player with a string of high-damage attacks. It takes a bit of patience, but players will be well-versed in the combat of the game by this point. This allows the player to fight toe-to-toe with this powerful foe, but caution is advised regardless.

This creature guards the entry to Oolacile Sanctuary, baring its fans at any intruder who wishes to break into this sacred area.

Abyss Watchers

The first phase shows how these fighters have gone completely insane (which is normal for most Dark Souls characters) and fight against each other in a futile battle to determine victory.

However, the second phase is where things heat up…literally! The main Watcher absorbs the powers of his brethren and adds fire damage to his attacks. On top of this, the Watcher becomes even more aggressive, making for a rousing finale to one of Dark Souls 3‘s best boss fights.

Lore

A group of fighters who modeled themselves after Artorias and even partook in wolf blood to attain the soul of the Abysswalker himself, the Abyss Walkers were formed to combat the looming threat of the abyss. After linking the flame, the Watchers had nothing to live for and slowly lost their minds to the growing influence of the Abyss.

Aldrich, Devourer Of Gods

One of the main challenges with this fight is that Aldrich delivers both fire and magic damage, which makes him a fairly big threat if someone’s build does not provide them much protection against these sorts of attacks. That said, the Lord of Cinder has a few weaknesses as well.

Lore

A horrible person who consumed humans to fuel his hubris, Aldrich was a twisted ex-cleric who could use the powers of the Deep without going completely insane. He ends up consuming the corpse of Gwyndolin, using this figure’s powers during the boss fight.

Lud And Zallen, The King’s Pets

Lore

These two felines served the Ivory King and took on the role of killing exiles. Given the corruption that their master went through, it can be assumed that both Lud and Zallen suffered from the same fate.

The fact that variants of these enemies can be found in Anor Londo itself strongly implies that they are created by the Gods themselves.

Nashandra was born as a small fragment of Manus, Father of the Abyss. She tried to trick King Vendrick into giving up the throne, only for the ruler to understand her true evil nature and implement safeguards to prevent the power of the throne from being usurped by her. With the arrival of the Bearer of the Curse, Nashandra believed that she had finally secured this power, only to fall at the hands of the pawn she manipulated throughout the game.

Once a proud ruler of Eleum Loyce, the Ivory King descended to the depths of Chaos to try and tackle this rampant darkness. He tried his hardest, but ultimately succumbed to the chaos and lost his mind by the time players encountered him.

Players will have to go through a grueling battle where Lothric revives Lorian every time he falls in battle, making for a spectacular effort that players must conquer.

The tragic story of Lorian and Lothric involves a sickly ailment that plagues the younger sibling. This leads to the duo being cursed so that they can share their strengths, but this causes their weaknesses to become common too. One can’t live or die without the other, and their parents lost their minds following their failure to protect the realm and their children.

Most of its attacks might be telegraphed, but that doesn’t mean this boss is easy by any stretch of the imagination. However, players who manage to beat this boss without incurring any damage whatsoever will trigger a unique death animation where this boss commits seppuku.

Sir Alonne was formerly the Iron King’s right-hand man, before departing from his service after seeing his liege fall into the jaws of hedonism. He came from an eastern land and valued honor above everything else.

The Fume Knight, formerly known as Raime, used to serve under King Vendrick along with Velstadt. However, a conflict arose between both knights which led to a battle that Velstadt won. Consequently, Vendrick labeled Raime a traitor and banished him from his kingdom. When Raime went to the Brume Tower in search of greater strength, he met and became the champion of Nashandra, a child of Dark.

Players have to fight both her and Father Ariandel over the course of the battle, which makes for a tough time. Finding good counterattack opportunities can be challenging, but players who accomplish the same will be able to defeat this boss.

Lore

Friede, along with her sisters Yuria and Lilliane, founded the Sable Church of Londor. She is an Unkindled, implying that she tried to light the First Flame and become a Lord of Cinder but failed. After entering Ariandel’s Painted World, she tricked Father Ariandel into using his blood to suppress that fire that would supposedly devour the painted world if left unchecked.
