Sometimes you need the videogame equivalent of a stress ball. For what Dead Island 2 lacks in subtlety, it more than makes up for with a gory, brutal hack-and-slash zombie experience that sees you ripping through undead hordes in a satirical take on Los Angeles. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s now at its lowest-ever price with all its DLC included.
One of the standout zombie games of recent years, Dead Island 2 was a surprising comeback story after a protracted development that saw multiple studios taking a swing at getting the sequel over the line. It finally launched in 2023, a whopping 12 years after the original game.
Its satirical take on LA isn’t the most cutting, but its hack-and-slash action and gore effects are second to none. Our Dead Island 2 review called it “a slow starter, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get infected,” complimenting the game’s gnarly combat and beautiful setting.

I bought Dead Island 2 at launch at full price and had a blast. The world’s tongue-in-cheek nature made any bugs and glitches funny, but almost two years later, a lot of its problems have been ironed out. I loved playing it solo, but it’s an even better time with friends.
