DDV's Baby Dragons Show an Underrated Film Deserves Representation

Disney Dreamlight Valley has introduced plenty of fun critters for players to interact with since the game’s launch in 2022. Animal companions have become one of the most fun aspects of Disney Dreamlight Valley, with premium companions usually available in the game’s various Star Paths and free critters roaming the Valley for players to befriend on their own. But Baby Dragons in particular provide an interesting insight as to how one Walt Disney Animation Studios film is still missing from the hit simulation game.

Animal Companions are essentially a type of wardrobe item in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Critters found across the Valley can be befriended by players with specific foods and feeding methods. Disney Dreamlight Valley has expanded the feature several times through DLC, including its addition of Baby

Dragons.

Baby Dragons Fly into Disney Dreamlight Valley

The first chapter of the new Storybook Vale expansion pass was released on November 20, 2024. While this DLC added more important features like Merida, Flynn Rider, and Hades as characters to the game, three new types of Critters were added to Disney Dreamlight Valley in the expansion. These critters include Baby Dragons, Baby Pegasi, and Owls.

Baby Dragons can be found in the Everafter biome. Their favorite foods include Pure Ice, Shiny Pure Ice, Magma, and Shiny Magma. Their “Liked Food” is Gems. Feeding Baby Dragons simply requires the “Patience” method. Like all other Critters, feeding Baby Dragons their favorite foods will drop a Dream Shard, a Memory Shard, and a Motif Bag. In comparison, feeding them a liked food will drop a Dream Shard, a Memory Shard, and two pieces of Petrified Wood.

The Critters included in the Storybook Vale DLC make sense when comparing which characters were added in the expansion pass. Baby Pegasi reside in Mythtopia, a biome themed to Greek mythology in reference to Hades. However, Owls and Baby Dragons were likely added to correspond with Maleficent, who will be added to Disney Dreamlight Valley in the second chapter of the Storybook Vale expansion pass.

Maleficent faces a riveting transformation at the end of Sleeping Beauty in which she turns into a fearsome dragon. The new Baby Dragons could easily be a reference to this part of her character. But Maleficent isn’t the only iconic dragon in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ history. With these Baby Dragon companions already gaining popularity in Disney Dreamlight Valley, maybe it’s time for a full-scale dragon to arrive in the game as well.

The Last Dragon Could and Should Join Disney Dreamlight Valley

Raya and the Last Dragon was released in 2021. The Disney film follows Raya, the daughter of a chief, as she tries to reunite the five chiefdoms of Kumandra. This reunification can only be completed upon fixing a magical gem that Sisu, the last dragon, concentrated her magic on before disappearing from the land. Along her journey, Raya eventually finds the last dragon, who joins her.

Currently, no characters from Raya and the Last Dragon have made their way to Disney Dreamlight Valley. This is a tad surprising considering that most of the game’s character roster is made up of Walt Disney Animation Studios characters from the Disney Renaissance and onward.

There is one item themed to the film in Disney Dreamlight Valley, a motif based on Raya’s sword, which could be obtained through the premium track of the Royal Winter Star Path.

Players have had plenty of fun feeding and befriending these miniature Baby Dragons. It only makes sense to give gamers a full-sized dragon for even bigger fun. Adding Sisu to Disney Dreamlight Valley would add more content from one of the missing Disney princess films into the game, while also spicing up Disney Dreamlight Valley’s character roster. While there are plenty of animals in the Valley, most of them aren’t as large as Sisu, which would add a new dynamic to the game’s animations and scale.

Based on Disney Dreamlight Valley’s 2025 plans, it’s unlikely that Sisu will be added to the game this year. Still, Baby Dragons have proven that a larger version of the mythical creature would be a great addition to Disney Dreamlight Valley.
