Summary
- Players frustrated by Black Ops 6 Squid Game cosmetics resembling teammates, causing confusion and friendly fire.
- Pink jumpsuit workers must be bought separately for $25, leading to dissatisfaction.
- Final reward: The Front Man operator has all-black skin, which could provide an advantage on dark maps, sparking pay-to-win concerns.
Before it even launched, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Squid Game collaborations caused a bit of a stink. Having a separate paid reward track for an event in a game that is already full of passes and microtransactions did not go down well with fans.

Every Update Makes Me Like Black Ops 6 Less And Less
Black Ops 6 has quickly become an embarrassment.
The discourse came and went, and the crossover event launched on Friday. But, no sooner did it launch than were fans unhappy again, finding multiple reasons to hate the game’s new cosmetics.
“I Keep Killing My Teammates Because Those Green Jumpsuits Are On Both Sides”
Since its launch, multiple threads have appeared on the Black Ops 6 subreddit, with players lamenting the title’s new Squid Game cosmetics.
The first frustration players have faced is the fact that the two cosmetics on the free track of the event look almost identical in battle. Players can unlock operator skins for Niran and Maya, both featuring the show’s iconic green tracksuits; the problem is that they’re incredibly hard to differentiate during fast-paced matches, causing confusion and, in Hardcore matches, friendly fire kills.
“I keep killing my teammates because those green jumpsuits are on both sides. It’s super annoying. I really wished that only one opposition had the green jumpsuits,” said one user in a post that was upvoted over 300 times. It was suggested that “the other team should be the red [pink] dudes,” but that leads us onto our next problem.

The masked workers who wear the vivid pink jumpsuits aren’t available through playing the game and have to be purchased separately for 2,800 CoD Points, or around $25. That price is high on its own for a few skins and cosmetic items, but it is made worse by the fact that they can only be used on one team, meaning for 50 percent of matches, you can’t actually use what you’ve spent your money on. Naturally, this hasn’t gone down too well.
Finally, the final reward on the Call of Duty x Squid Game paid track is a new operator, “Front Man”. The Front Man is dressed in his black outfit and mask from the show, complete with the black mask, meaning that potentially, players who use him have an advantage on darker maps. It has evoked feelings similar to those of the Rose skin of the past.
Players have already shared they are “considering it is because an all-black skin could be advantageous sometime in the future,” and the calls that Black Ops 6 is turning pay-to-win have returned.
With the game shedding almost 50 percent of its players and calls for it to go free-to-play rife, Activision has a tough job on its hands.
Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
