Summary
- The RTX 5090 will boast 32GB of GDDR7 video memory, twice that of the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti.
- Alongside its high memory, the RTX 5090 will require a substantial 575W power draw.
- Nvidia’s RTX 50 lineup, including the RTX 5090, will be unveiled at CES on January 6.
According to sources, some leaked details about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stated that the upcoming graphics card would have up to 32GB of GDDR7 video memory and a staggering power draw of 575 watts. However, the new flagship GPU from Nvidia is expected to be officially revealed during the company’s keynote at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Codenamed Blackwell, the RTX 50 series is Nvidia’s next-generation graphics card lineup, and will arrive over two years after the RTX 40 series hit store shelves. Along with using its proprietary Tensor Cores for AI-based workloads, the RTX 50 series will include features such as Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support on compatible motherboards. The RTX 50 series will succeed the RTX 40 lineup, which has seen some models like the RTX 4090D and RTX 4070 discontinued by Nvidia ahead of the new Blackwell slate. The RTX 50 series will compete against AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 cards and Intel’s Battlemage GPUs.

While rumors must be taken with a fine pinch of salt, some details of the GeForce RTX 5090 were revealed ahead of CES. First reported by VideoCardz, one of Nvidia’s all-in board (AIB) partners, Inno3D, showed off its version of the RTX 5090. The Inno3D iChill X3 RTX 5090 is a three-fan graphics card that occupies just over three slots on the back of a PC case. Alongside its bulk, the iChill X3 RTX 5090 packaging stated that the flagship Blackwell GPU would have 32GB of GDDR7 video memory, twice the anticipated memory on the RTX 5070 Ti. Alongside the high video memory count, the RTX 5090 will also have a total power draw of 575W, a sharp increase compared to the 450W draw of the RTX 4090.
The Nvidia RTX 5090 Will Have Plenty Of Video Memory But At A Cost
- According to Nvidia partner Inno3D, the RTX 5090 will have 32GB of GDDR7 video memory.
- The impressive 32GB video memory is twice as much as the anticipated RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti.
- The Nvidia RTX 5090 will have a total power draw of 575W, making a high-capacity power supply mandatory.
- Nvidia will officially reveal the RTX 50 lineup at CES on January 6.
The RTX 50 series GPUs will utilize a proprietary 16-pin power connector, but adapters will be available from Nvidia and its partners. While the specs of the RTX 5090 are impressive, it is expected to come at a steep price. The anticipated MSRP of the RTX 5090 could start upwards of $1,999 or more. At the time of writing, Nvidia has kept a tight lip on how much the Blackwell generation will cost PC builders.
Other Nvidia RTX 50 series GPUs, including the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti, will be announced alongside the RTX 5090 during Nvidia’s CES keynote on Monday, January 6, at 9:30 PM Eastern. With a new generation of Nvidia products on the horizon, only time will tell how consumers react.
