Jujutsu Kaisen: 7 Best Fights In The Shinjuku Showdown Arc

The final arc of Jujutsu Kaisen brought many, many battles. These were the most memorable ones in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc.

The Culling Game Arc, a battle royale-esque game that the story’s main antagonist, Kenjaku, has been scheming to make happen for over a thousand years, begins. The Culling Game Arc has some of the series’ best, most dynamic fights, with Fushiguro Megumi, Itadori Yuji, and their allies fighting newly awakened and realized sorcerers to save Tsumiki and free Gojo.

8

Itadori Yuji Vs. Higuruma Hiromi

Megumi and Yuji have a game plan they’ve planned out with their allies, but they didn’t foresee being separated upon entering Tokyo No 1 Colony. Yuji forges on to find Higuruma Hiromi, intent on using his points to change a rule in the game.

Yuji finds Hiromi, but he won’t make things easy for Yuji. Former lawyer Hiromi uses his domain expansion to take all of Yuji’s cursed energy, but his hardy constitution and immense strength pull him through. Hiromi displays his combat aptitude and powerful technique, though he changes his mind and gives Yuji his points to use after Yuji readily confesses to the actions Sukuna did using his body.

7

Fushiguro Megumi Vs. Reggie Star

Megumi’s clash with awakened sorcerer Reggie Star is one of the most intense and fast-paced battles in the arc. The battle shows how much Megumi has improved as a sorcerer, as he uses his incomplete domain to trap and outpace Reggie.

Reggie is a formidable opponent, capable of recreating the things purchased on a receipt. The two proceed to attempt to crush one another, with Megumi using Max Elephant and Reggie retaliating with a house. What follows is a tactical outmaneuvering on both ends, with Megumi winning out by keeping his Divine Dog in reserve.

6

Zenin Maki Vs. Curse Naoya

Maki can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to her family. Although she’d eliminated the entire Zenin clan, Naoya’s sheer rage and resentment turned him into a powerful cursed spirit intent on killing her. She took on Naoya alongside Noritoshi Kamo but was overpowered and nearly killed.

It wasn’t until Hagane Daido and Rokujushi Miyo’s intervention that Maki realized that she had not unlocked her full potential as Toji had. Naoya reveals and unleashes his domain expansion, only to realize too late that it won’t work on Maki, who has zero cursed energy. Maki kills Naoya for good, shatters his domain, and becomes a warrior on par with Toji.

5

Okkotsu Yuuta Vs. Kurourushi

Kurourushi using the Festering Life Sword against Yuta Okkotsu in Jujutsu Kaisen.

While Megumi and Yuji are in Tokyo No 1 Colony, Okkotsu Yuuta goes off on his own to Sendai Colony to collect enough points and kill Kenjaku. Yuuta quickly comes into blows with cockroach Special Grade cursed spirit Kurourushi while trying to protect a group of civilians.

Yuuta shows off his chops by taking on Kurourushi without the help of Rika, who is off protecting the civilians. Kurourushi uses its insect swarm as both an offense and defense and its own cursed tool capable of shooting projectiles and causing insects to sprout from its victim’s body. Although Yuuta seemed down for the count, he turned things around by using his mouth to shoot positive cursed energy and exorcise Kurourushi.

4

Hakari Kinji Vs. Hajime Kashimo

Hakari Kinji enters into battle with the incarnated sorcerer Hajime Kashimo just before Kashimo is about to kill Panda. Hakari shows just why he is considered one of the strongest up-and-coming sorcerers and a potential successor to Gojo’s strength.

Kinji can keep up with Kashimo’s pace, giving us an intense, high-octane, close-quarters fight. He uses his domain expansion to recover and maintains his unkillable mode, taking Kashimo by surprise. Kinji nearly dies on several occasions but ultimately exhausts Kashimo’s cursed energy to land a finishing blow.

3

Okkotsu Yuuta Vs. Uro Takako Vs. Ishigori Ryu

Okkotsu Yuuta has his hands full in this fight, fending off both Uro Takako and Ishigori Ryu. Despite having two very powerful sorcerers to battle, Yuuta was able to keep both on their toes.

Both Ryu and Yuuta were able to take Uro out of the fight, the latter kicking Uro straight at the incarnated Kurourushi. Yuuta turned the tables on Ryu at the last minute, copying Uro’s technique to redirect Ryu’s beam and have it hit him instead.

2

Choso and Tsukumo Yuki Vs. Kenjaku

As part of an agreement with Master Tengen, Tsukumo Yuki, and Choso stayed behind to guard the immortal sorcerer. The trio came up with a plan to defeat Kenjaku, who Tengen expected would come and try to absorb them using Geto Suguru’s technique.

1

Sukuna Vs. Yorozu

With Sukuna taking over Fushiguro Megumi’s body, he is now dead set on having total control by seeking Yorozu, who has been incarnated using Fushiguro Tsumiki’s body. Yorozu has an unrequited obsession with Sukuna, forcing him to enter a binding vow wherein they’ll marry if Yorozu wins their fight.

Although Yorozu is a strong combatant and sorcerer, there is hardly a chance she is ever going to triumph. Despite Yorozu whipping out her signature insect armor, Sukuna uses only Megumi’s Ten Shadows Technique in response, successfully drowning his soul upon killing Tsumiki/Yorozu.
