Fairy Tail 2 plunges players back into the magical world of Earth Land, picking up the story after the Avatar arc. As the strongest guild in the land, Fairy Tail must now face an unprecedented threat: a full-scale invasion led by the infamous Black Mage, Zeref.

After Sword Art Online, animes that took place in video game worlds became really popular. But what about animes whose characters play video games?
Spanning episodes 285 to 328 of the anime, the game closely mirrors the source material and is brimming with Easter eggs and references for eagle-eyed fans. Whether it’s subtle nods to earlier story arcs or deep-cut character interactions, the game ensures that you are fully immersed in the rich world of Earth Land.

Fairy Tail Lore Is Hidden Across The Land
Like most video games, Fairy Tail 2 features collectible items to uncover during your journey. One of the more intriguing collectibles is a set of old memos written by significant figures from the past, detailing pivotal events tied to Fairy Tail’s history and its characters’ backstories.
Precht would later go on to found the Dark Guild, Grimoire Heart as Hades.
Among the most impactful are the Aged Parchment Memos, which recount the events of Fairy Tail Zerø, the story of Mavis Vermilion and the founding of Fairy Tail. Fans of the manga or spin-off anime will recognize these memos as being written by Precht, Fairy Tail’s second Master.

Gray’s Embarrassing Habit
Gray is an ice mage with a habit that’s as legendary as his magic. Growing up, he trained under Ur, a strict ice master who believed in tough love. One of her unique teaching methods was making her students train in the freezing mountains while stripping down to their skivvies to desensitize them to the cold. For Gray, this stuck, so much so that he unconsciously started shedding layers.
In Fairy Tail 2, Gray’s stripping habit doesn’t pop up too often in the cutscenes, but if you pair him with Lucy in battle, their post-fight banter almost always includes Lucy praising his skills and immediately telling him to put his clothes back on. Classic Gray!

Gajeel Is A Composer And Musician
Fairy Tail’s guildhall is never short on lively antics, and music often takes center stage. While Mira is the crowd’s favorite singer, Gajeel occasionally grabs the spotlight with his guitar. His singing might leave something to be desired, but during a guild-wide talent show, the anime revealed that he’s actually a talented composer.

Spin-off anime series extend the adventures of beloved characters and stories. They offer fresh perspectives and new challenges for fans, new and old.
In one of the Fairy Tail Diary episodes, Gajeel lends his musical skills to Juvia, helping her compose and perform a heartfelt love ballad for Gray. The result? The song clears out the entire guildhall, save for Mira, who remains supportive and offers Gajeel positive feedback and encouragement for his efforts.

Girl’s Slumber Party
In one of the Fairy Tail Diary entries, the Fairy Tail girls chat about their sleeping arrangements at home and in the dorms, ultimately deciding they need to host a slumber party at Lucy’s house. Lucy’s home has famously been a target for surprise visits and sleepovers, with Natsu, Happy, Gray, and Erza all spending the night uninvited on multiple occasions.
This entry is likely a nod to the ongoing joke about Lucy’s lack of privacy and a tribute to Hiro Mashima’s artwork depicting the Fairy Tail women enjoying a slumber party. The illustration features matching pajamas, drinks, pizza, and comfy pillows — all things mentioned in the diary entry.

Gajeel Loves To Make Arrests
After Fairy Tail disbanded following the events of Tartaros, Gajeel took up a new role as the captain of the Magic Council’s Custody Enforcement Unit. However, he resigned to rejoin Fairy Tail after the defeat of Avatar. Upon his return, Gajeel quickly developed a fondness for mock “arrests,” issuing them for hilariously random reasons like being indecent, clammy, eating too much, or simply “for reasons.”
While this running gag isn’t emphasized as much in Fairy Tail 2, it remains an endearing inside joke between Gajeel and Levy. They use it as a lighthearted way to reassure each other that, no matter what happens, they’ll always find their way back home to Fairy Tail.

High-Class Mimicry
The wizards of Fairy Tail are always up for a good laugh, even when taking down a powerful enemy. God Serena, one of the Spriggan 12, was once the top Wizard Saint and had eight Dragon Slayer magics under his belt, making him a difficult and adaptable foe.
But Serena’s ego is as big as his power, and he has a habit of labeling everything he does as “godly.” After defeating him, Team Natsu and Gildarts can’t resist poking fun, peppering their banter with as many “godly” remarks as humanly (or godly) possible.

Lucy Wrote A Novel
Fairy Tail’s celestial wizard, Lucy, isn’t just a lover of literature: she’s an author too. From the very first season, we learn about her secret book when Levy discovers Lucy’s project and encourages her to share it. Titled “The Adventure of Iris,” the novel eventually gets published, earning Lucy a new author’s prize.
A copy of The Adventure of Iris and a marketing poster can be seen in Hiro Mashima’s subsequent work, Edens Zero.
Although Fairy Tail 2 doesn’t mention the novel by name, it includes numerous references to Lucy’s writing, including an interaction with some of her most enthusiastic fans. The game doubles down on a popular fan theory: “The Adventure of Iris” is inspired by Lucy’s own adventures with the Fairy Tail guild.

Fish: Happy’s Weapon Of Choice
In Fairy Tail 2, you unlock Extreme Magic abilities, where supporting characters join the fray with powerful moves. The first Extreme Magic you receive is Exceed Special, featuring Happy, Carla, and Lily teaming up to restore your party and debuff your enemies. The trio accomplishes this using a fish that Happy pulls from his trusty green backpack.
It’s a fun nod to the anime, where Happy is always finding creative ways to fight with whatever’s on hand. Whether he’s smacking enemies with giant fish, octopuses, or random fruit, his over-the-top antics never fail to make an impression!

Misadventures At The Water Park
In Fairy Tail 2’s post-game content, the guild plans a relaxing trip to Akane Beach for some well-earned R&R. However, if you speak with Carla before leaving the guild, she’ll reminisce about the time Fairy Tail visited Ryuzetsu Land, a popular summer resort in Fiore.

10 Anime Series That Should Have JRPGs
These great anime series would be ideal for making the leap into JRPG territory.
This misadventure was published in Fairy Tail’s fifth OVA, The Exciting Ryuzetsu Land and was adapted from Chapter 298 of the manga.
This callback refers to the Grand Magical Games arc, where the guild took a brief respite at Ryuzetsu Land. True to form, Fairy Tail’s visit quickly devolved into chaos as they clashed with members of rival guilds, resulting in the destruction of the resort’s pool and significant damage to the facilities.

Plue Makes An Appearance
In Fairy Tail, Plue is a Silver Key Celestial Spirit with no combat abilities, serving as Lucy’s adorable and quirky pet. But Plue’s origins go beyond Fairy Tail, tracing back to Hiro Mashima’s earlier work, Rave Master. There, Plue played a pivotal role as the bearer of the Rave Stone and an invaluable companion to the protagonist, Haru Glory.
Plue has also appeared in Mashima’s Monster Soul and Edens Zero.
Mashima slipped Plue into Fairy Tail as a playful nod to Rave Master, blending his two worlds in a subtle crossover. Fairy Tail 2 takes this homage even further, introducing Plue as part of a collectible quest.
