In Two Point Hospital, one of your jobs as a manager is ensuring your staff members are happy in their functions, so paying close attention to their Morale levels is a must. After all, no one likes to be treated by a grumpy doctor when they already have a lot in their heads (such as a light bulb).

Fortunately, keeping your employees satisfied isn’t a hard task, as long as you’re willing to put some effort (and money) into making your hospital the best it can be, which you’re already expected to do anyway.

What Is Staff Morale?

The Staff Overview screen in Two Point Hospital.

Staff Morale is the average happiness of your employees. You can check it by opening the Overview Staff menu (5 on your Keyboard by default). The happier your staff is, the higher their morale will be, which influences their work effectiveness.

A happy doctor is more efficient at healing their patients, and it’ll usually take longer before they require a break. Happiness is directly influenced by the employee’s Traits, and cannot be altered once they’re hired.

Doctors with low happiness won’t be willing to work, and they may quit the job if it reaches zero, so be careful!

Some challenges require increasing your staff’s general happiness, awarding you with some Money, Reputation and Kudosh. Failing to complete them can result in damaging your reputation, or even hurting your staff’s Morale even further.

There are multiple ways to increase Morale, and they’re simply good practices you should always have in general when managing your hospital. You can take extra steps to increase Morale even further, but it’s usually unnecessary unless you’re trying to complete a challenge.

Paying Attention To Traits

Keep your eyes open for hiring staff members with the Positive Trait as it passively increases their happiness, with a chance of also increasing their patients’ and coworkers’ too. The Charming Trait does the same, but won’t increase their own happiness.

At the same time, avoid employees with the Grumpy Trait, as they’ll lose happiness faster than usual. Some doctors are just not meant to be happy.

Increasing Payment

Increasing your staff members’ payment until you see the happy green face will always result in more happiness, so give them a few raises occasionally to keep your Morale high.

Training Your Staff

Training is important to keep your staff happy, especially if you give them the Emotional Intelligence Qualification, which increases their happiness directly.

Satisfying Their Needs

Make sure your rooms (and your whole hospital, in general) are prepared to deal with your staff’s needs. Always have some trash bins, drink and food at their disposal, as well as an easily accessible bathroom.

If they need a break, let them take as long as they need and just hire more staff if you feel the need to. Having a well-prepared Staff Room also helps a lot, which takes us to the next tip.

Healing patients will also increase their happiness, so keep your staff as efficient as possible by keeping their needs in check.

Improving Rooms

The room’s Prestige and Attractiveness have a direct impact on Morale. Try to make rooms with Prestige Level 4 or 5 to keep both doctors and patients happy whenever they visit it. Your hospital’s Reputation will also increase.

Spend some Kudosh to get some good decoration. Gold Star Awards are notably efficient, as they’re cheap to unlock, cheap to buy and won’t take up much space in a room.

Micromanage Your Staff

While not always necessary, you can check each member’s needs individually and take the necessary actions to increase their happiness. If they’re feeling tired, just give them a Break. If you see the yellow face next to the salary, give them a raise. Do they want to use the bathroom? Move them there immediately.

If you’ve been following the previous tips, this won’t be necessary at all, but can be helpful if you’re aiming for a happier working environment. This can result in needing to hire more staff to attend to your patients’ needs, so be careful.
