Fnatic and ONIC part ways cover

  • Fnatic and ONIC parted ways just after the successful completion of M6!
  • The short journey left three trophies in the team’s showcase.
  • Reasons for the dissolution is unclear, both are yet to make any statement.

London-based esports organization Fnatic reportedly parted ways with popular Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports team ONIC. The announcement came earlier today and marked an unforgettable journey of excellence for both the organization and millions of fans. After the collaboration in May 2024, the partnership saw some massive successes in the MLBB esports scene.

As the partnership came to an end, the roster will continue to play as ONIC. The reasons behind this quick-end deal are still unclear. Fnatic, on the other hand, also didn’t say much about the dismissal of the journey.

Fnatic and ONIC entered a partnership last May 2024, garnering a successful growth together

The partnership between ONIC Esports and Fnatic is short, but it covered every corner of the fans’ emotions and touched everyone with unbeatable performances. Both organizations entered the partnership, as announced by Fnatic, on the 21st of May, 2024. As per the announcement, ONIC’s existing rosters in the Philippines and Indonesia changed their title.

The new teams, “Fnatic ONIC PH” and “Fnatic ONIC ID” participated in several events of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports. Fnatic ONIC ID saw rapid success just after Fnatic joined the scene. The team won the prestigious professional league, MPL Indonesia Season 13, and was awarded over $82,000.

Though the next national and international events were not so well for the team, it earned some decent results. The MPL trophy was the only major winning by the team. Lastly, it failed to qualify for the M6 World Championship

On the other hand, Fnatic ONIC PH witnessed a more successful journey. It started with MPL Philippines Season 13 and finished in the 5th position. However, the team turned back into the competition after winning the MPL PH Season 14. But the most successful journey was the M6 World Championship. The recently concluded championship was taken away by the team along with a humongous prize pool of $320,000.

Fans welcome this move with the hope that OG ONIC will be back

There wasn’t much gap in the performances of both the teams in terms of their respective league standings in the last few events. But the fans welcome this decision in a belief that ONIC will perform better now. Fnatic and ONIC partnered together after months of discussion and then entered the mobile esports scene. The promising scene in the APAC region pushed the Western team to make an entry.

Ahead of the esports year in 2025, this decision will have some effect. More or less, both organizations will have to rethink their approach now. ONIC, as a mobile-focused esports organization, will surely continue its journey in MLBB including other titles such as Free Fire, and Honor of Kings. However, it is unclear if Fnatic will team up with any other organization or take a complete exit from mobile esports, the organization hasn’t made any clear statements.
