Those who have been following Tohru Kuramori’s Centuria will know that this isn’t the first time a high-profile manga artist has endorsed it. Before Kohei Horikoshi, Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man, also recommended the series to fans. The fact that two of the most renowned names in the manga industry have given their thumbs-up to Centuria is nothing short of amazing.
Despite being recommended by Tatsuki Fujimoto and Tatsu Yukinobu, Centuria has low physical sales. This is bad news for Centuria’s future, as most manga with low sales are canceled. Hopefully, the endorsement from Tatsu Yukinobu and Fujimoto will boost the manga’s sales.
Tatsuki Fujimoto is currently busy writing Chainsaw Man, which is among the hottest prospects in the Weekly Shonen Jump. In fact, Chainsaw Man Chapter 167 was the most-read chapter on MangaPlus.
2025 promises to be a big year for Chainsaw Man fans as MAPPA will finally release the movie covering the Reze story arc from the manga. The project will help boost Chainsaw Man’s popularity even further. Meanwhile, Dandadan will return with its second season in July 2025.
What Is Centuria Manga About?
Centuria is a dark fantasy manga series set in a medieval world inspired by the 16th century. It follows the story of a blacksmith boy who is captured by a slave ship that is bound for a new continent. On the ship, he bonds with a pregnant woman, who showers him with love. Having never experienced motherly affection, the boy bonds with the woman.
Just when things start looking better, the slave owner slaughters almost everyone onboard, save for the boy and the woman’s baby. Feeling indebted to the woman, the boy strikes a deal with a sea creature and decides to bear the souls of the 100 slaves sacrificed.
