Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is beloved by many as the best COD Zombies game of all time, and part of the charm isn’t just the great selection of maps and the enjoyable gameplay loop, but the Wonder Weapons that provide players with grand power unparalleled by that of an ordinary rifle from the Mystery Box.

Call of Duty Zombies: Best Main Quests in the Series
Call of Duty Zombies features grand-scale easter eggs with incredible lore potential, challenging steps, and fun boss fights, but which is the best?
Wonder Weapons are spectacular in terms of creativity and power and the best Wonder Weapons in Black Ops 3 will often dictate the enjoyability of specific maps. Across the large library of amazing maps in Black Ops 3, it’s time to take a nostalgic look at the decade-old Call of Duty for its beautiful selection of Wonder Weapons.
11
Ray Gun
Porter’s Classic, the Original Wonder Weapon with Lethality for Zombies and Players
The Ray Gun has been around since the inception of Call of Duty Zombies, and its return to Black Ops 3 wasn’t exactly resounding. The Ray Gun is still a fun weapon to get, and one that all players like to brag about once they acquire it from the Mystery Box, but the Ray Gun, in particular, is quite weak when compared to other Wonder Weapons that can be acquired across the selection of maps.
The Ray Gun has a pretty harsh kick, slow fire rate, and damage that doesn’t get much better in later rounds so players are going to have to deal with crawlers, and the fact that they might put themselves down if they fire it too close due to the splash damage.

Wave Gun/Zap Gun Dual Wield
Zap Zombies to the Extreme or Inflate Them So They Explode
Hitting the Mystery Box on the Moon will see fortunate players claim the Wave Gun, which can be used on a horde of zombies to turn them into inflatable balloons, filled with blood until they get fatter and pop. Outside of the Wave Gun, players can separate them into the Zap Gun Dual Wield.
With a Zap Gun in each hand, players can one-shot every zombie that’s hit by it, and it’s always fun to use a dual-wielded weapon, especially when it’s a Wonder Weapon that isn’t going to kill players with explosive potential. It essentially electrocutes zombies for instant death.

Wunderwaffe DG-2
An Electrifying Wonder Weapon to Make Zombies Pop
- Featured in: The Giant, Verruckt, Shi no Numa
The Wunderwaffe DG-2 is the second-ever Wonder Weapon, and its return to Black Ops 3 provides it with the identical power of previous entries, without the glitch from World at War where players could remove health regeneration if they shoot the Wunderwaffe DG-2 too close to themselves. The Black Ops 3 variant players are nearly identical, but it’s still a good time.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Best Zombies Maps, Ranked
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has one of the most beloved Zombies modes in the franchise’s history, but how does every map rank to decide the best?
Firing a single shot of the Wunderwaffe DG-2 will be like a rail gun, as the first zombie hit will be overloaded with an intense surge of deadly volts that will then hop to other zombies, committing to a deadly chain that kills all zombies in the vicinity with a deadly affair.

31-79 JGb215
The Wonder Weapon That Turns Zombies Tiny and Kickable
If COD Zombies players have ever wanted to release some brutal rage through incredibly funny finishers, then heading into Shangri-La and acquiring the long-winded and confusingly named 31-79 JGb215 is the weapon they need. This weapon is effectively a shrink ray, a gun that babifies zombies and turns them into kickable infants.
Running into these shrunken zombies will allow players to boot them far away like they’re trying for a field goal, and it’s hilarious every time – even if it’s not so powerful. The 31-79 JGb215 is a fun Wonder Weapon, but it’s on one of the more controversial maps and has a linear fire that doesn’t make it so great against hordes.
7
KT-4
A Goo Gun to Explode Zombies
- Featured in: Zetsubou no Shima
The KT-4 is an interesting Wonder Weapon due to the fact that it holds infinite damage, but at the cost of firing 3 bullets in each charged shot. Charging up the weapon itself is where it falters the most, and that’s not even considering the high ammo cost for each shot. Each charge will only be available to players who aren’t running, so slowing down with a horde behind the player is a risky move that may result in death.
Damage-wise, the KT-4 easily impresses, and it’s not hard to get good with this weapon when once considered players just need to shoot a blue puddle of goo on the ground to see every zombie who has walked into it become infected and then eradicated, showing off a good time for all players, and not the zombies.
6
GKZ-45 Mk3
Slow Zombies and Explode Zombies in Dual-Wield Succession
The GKZ-45 Mk3 is essentially the Ray Gun Mark 3, and players can dual-wield this weapon to enjoy two variations of fire modes. The GKZ-45 Mk3 has a classic explosive mode with the left gun and paralyzing rounds with the right gun. Combining the two allows for the creation of deadly black holes.

Call of Duty: All Black Ops Zombie Modes, Ranked
Zombies have been essential to the DNA of Treyarch’s Call of Duty titles since World at War, but how do the Black Ops games rank them?
The GKZ-45 Mk3 might not be the strongest of the Ray Gun family, but it’s still extremely fun, and a weapon to brag about when acquiring it on Gorod Krovi. The third iteration is extremely fun, and dual-wielding is an exciting time for all, especially when damage can be maximized with its black hole creations.
5
Ray Gun Mark 2
The Superior Ray Gun For Three-Round Burst Fire
- Featured in: All Zombies Chronicles Maps
Acquiring Zombies Chronicles doesn’t just provide players with the best hits across COD Zombies history, but also with the chance to get the Ray Gun Mark 2 from the Mystery Box within those maps. The Ray Gun Mark 2 leaves its inferior original, the Ray Gun, in the dust, and that’s for a few reasons.
The Ray Gun Mark 2 is lethal, doesn’t harm players thanks to its lack of splash damage, and has a three-round burst to ensure players are always quick on the draw against the zombie hordes. It’s effectively a semi-automatic Assault Rifle combined with a Ray Gun, and who wouldn’t want that?
4
Thundergun
Blast Zombies Back with Deadly Winds
- Featured in: Kino der Toten, Ascension, Revelations
The third Wonder Weapon introduced to Call of Duty Zombies belongs to the Thundergun, which returns for Revelations, and the Zombies Chronicles remakes of Kino der Toten and Ascension. The Thundergun is a necessary choice for Revelations due to how it will always one-shot each head of the Margwas, but there are more reasons than just that.
The Thundergun is a mighty choice, and its ammo count can be pretty generous (even if players can’t reload until the magazine is empty). No matter the round, the Thundergun will blast hordes away, making this an essential tool for players who get trapped in corners or want to destroy waves of zombies with ease.
3
Wrath of the Ancients
Four Distinct Elemental Bows with Grand Power
- Featured in: Der Eisendrache
Heading deep into the Undercroft of Der Eisendrache, players can feed the heads of three dragons and engulf themselves in the riches of the Wrath of the Ancients, the map’s Wonder Weapon that will see players fire a dangerous bow. Yet, the Wrath of the Ancients isn’t great on its own, and it’s only bolstered by the strengthened upgrade quests to acquire the four distinct elemental variants.
Shooting out void skulls, blasting hordes with spectral wolves, unleashing explosive volcanic rock, or trapping Panzersoldats and zombies in a lightning storm – The Wrath of the Ancient variants are incredible and are most certainly part of the reasons why Der Eisendrache is an S-Tier map.
2
Elemental Staffs
Four Immensely Powerful Staffs with Unique Elements and Properties
The four Elemental Staffs wielded by Primis in Origins are one of the best Wonder Weapons of all time, and that’s in part due to their uniqueness and attributes in the lore. The Elemental Staffs were created by Maxis, and players can build them in-game themselves. Each of them has unique properties, which obviously means that some are better than others, like the Ice Staff which can eradicate hordes into the high rounds like no other.
Wielding a staff that can one-shot to the high rounds, and hit enemies like a melee weapon, while also reviving players with the upgraded variants, showcases the true power and potential within Origins to easily see players break through to high rounds.
1
Apothicon Servant
An Eldritch Weapon That Unlocks the Void of Space
- Featured in: Shadows of Evil, Revelations
Firing the Apothicon Servant is a weapon like no other, as it essentially blasts a ball of cosmic energy from the mouth of this squid-looking gun that will result in a black hole emerging, where zombies will get sucked into the void tear that will see them instantly killed, no matter the round players are on.
The Apothicon Servant makes high-round-runs as easy as they could ever be, but players can only grab this mighty weapon on Shadows of Evil and Revelations. Within those maps, players can wield the power of the Apothicons to become a true master of the zombies.
