Summary
- Liv Morgan’s impactful “Revenge Tour” could see her on the cover of WWE 2K25 for her mainstream stardom.
- Kevin Owens’ anti-hero persona and classic matches could earn him the coveted spot on the next game’s cover.
- Rhea Ripley, Gunther, Cody Rhodes, and CM Punk all have strong cases to be the front cover star of WWE 2K25.
With staggering PPV audience numbers, plenty of thrilling storylines, and an ambitious move to the Netflix streaming platform, WWE is arguably at its peak, certainly within the modern era, at least. In the world of gaming, that simply means that the next WWE 2K game also needs to match the hype with new features and modes, but before any of that is revealed, the first announcement usually given by 2K is which star appears on the front cover of the game.

WWE has released a slew of different wrestling games over the years, but these are by far the weirdest WWE games out there.
Being the face of a WWE 2K game has always been seen as a pretty prestigious achievement, being symbolic of the man or woman who made their mark on the last year of professional wrestling. After finally finishing his story and winning the Universal Championship, Cody Rhodes was the wrestler who took center stage last year, but who has made enough of an impact to deserve the position for the hotly anticipated next game?

Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan’s Revenge Tour Made Shot Her To Stardom In 2024
While Liv Morgan has always had a large fanbase, her “Revenge Tour”, which took place this year, has pushed her into mainstream stardom. The highlight of this tour was Liv stealing the belt from Rhea, and then using sweet little words to make Dominic Mysterio turn to her side, breaking up the Judgment Day in the process.
Liv has stepped up her game a lot since being thrust into this chaotic feud, and considering it is likely to still have a long way to go, it seems likely Live will still be very relevant by the time 2K25 rolls around, making it more than possible for her to be the cover star.

Kevin Owens
The Fiery Kevin Owens Has Been In More Than Enough Classic Matches To Earn A Cover Spot
Kevin Owens, the thorn in the side of the Bloodline, has proven what he’s truly capable of in this past year. While he’s partaken in several memorable feuds, by far the most notable would be his intense rivalry with Cody Rhodes late in the year, which saw Owens turning on his old friend after ridiculing him for teaming up with Roman Reigns and the Bloodline.

With WWE 2K25 likely releasing in roughly four months, here’s a wish list of items I hope to see in the next Visual Concepts WWE wrestling game.
What’s special about Owens, though, is that he hasn’t exactly been a ‘heel’ in the traditional sense. Instead, he acts more like an anti-hero, and considering the likes of CM Punk have been the face of WWE 2K covers in the past who would also suit this description, it would certainly give Mr. “Just Keep Fighting” a chance to take the spotlight this time around.

Roman Reigns
The Tribal Chief Is Still As Popular Than Ever, Even After Losing His Championship
Roman Reigns is really the only active wrestler who can appear a handful of times throughout the year, and still be seen as one of the biggest faces in wrestling, and that’s a testament to just how admired he is by the fans. While the first half of the year would see Roman involved in the fiery buildup to his match with Cody at Wrestlemania, even after losing the belt, he would still find himself embroiled in Bloodline business.
However, it’s clear that Reigns has gone through a personal character arc after everything went wrong in his Bloodline, making this a particularly exciting time to be a fan of the Tribal Chief. Many wrestling fans were surprised that Roman didn’t receive the call for the cover back on 2K24, but this year could be his chance to take center stage.

Jey Uso
It Feels Like The Perfect Time To Capitalize On Jey’s Incredible Surge In Popularity
“Yeet” is a catchphrase that became an infectious sensation among WWE fans in 2024, but it’s also become synonymous with one of the company’s biggest superstars of 2024, Jey Uso. After the Uso twins decided to go their separate ways, many worried how each one would fare going solo, but in the case of Jey, he would quickly become an athlete that the fans would come to admire with his stylish moveset and effortless charisma.
Despite becoming such a huge persona in a short amount of time, Jey has proven he has what it takes to stand tall in the business for many years to come. Considering there’s no signs of him losing any steam any time soon, Jey’s chances of being the cover star are very high, especially considering how popular he is with younger generations who the game would be targeted towards.
5
Rhea Ripley
Rhea Rhipley, The Face Of The Women’s Division, Could Take Center Stage This Time Around
While Rhea Ripley did technically show up on a cover of the last game in the WWE 2K series, it was only for the deluxe edition, though considering how staggeringly popular the ‘nightmare’ has become in the last year, it seems highly likely she could take center be the true face of the game this time. Despite losing her belt to Liv Morgan due to an injury, Rhea has lost absolutely no steam since coming back, tearing the house down every time she enters the ring.

Some WWE games deserve to be on the undercard while others are World Championship contenders.
While Liv has been her main target for much of the year, Rhea has even held her own against the icon, Becky Lynch, which was just one of her many victories against some of the best in the business. There’s no doubt that Rhea became the face of the women’s division in 2024, so it only seems right that she would earn a standalone cover.
4
Gunther
Gunther’s Dominance In 2024 Makes Him A Likely Candidate For WWE 2K24’s Cover
Gunther has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of the most formidable superstars in the WWE. In 2024, despite losing the title, he would still run a rampage across the men’s locker room, taking down the likes of Randy Orton and Jey Uso in convincing fashion.
Due to his heavy-handed style which involves a lot of chops and slaps, Gunther has been seen by many as a ‘traditional’ kind of wrestler who always puts his opponent’s body through the ringer during a match. After holding his own in multiple feuds throughout the year, Gunther is set to achieve big things on Netflix, and it feels like he’s finally become big enough to earn a spot on the front cover.
3
Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes Story Is Far From Over, And With Feuds Set Up For 2025, It Could See Him Appear For A Second Cover
Cody Rhodes may have shown up on last year’s cover, but this guy just seems to get bigger and bigger with each passing year, even after finishing his story to become a champion. With that being said though, finally overcoming Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania and celebrating in the ring with his friends and family became an instant classic moment after a stunner of a match, making it undoubtedly the greatest moment of his career.
Needless to say, Cody’s been the biggest wrestler in WWE over the past year, and with subtle hints at a heel turn being dropped here and there, it’s clear that Cody’s journey is far from over. It’s also evident that Cody is going to be given a pretty high rating in the newest game, which only bolsters his chances of seeing a second appearance on the cover.
2
CM Punk
Over 10 Years Later, Punk’s Immense Popularity Could See Him Reprise The Cover Role Once Again
When watching CM Punk on-screen and seeing the sheer amount of love he receives from fans, it can be difficult to believe this guy was gone for an entire decade, and seemingly had no intentions of coming back. This underlying narrative has very much been at the core of Punk’s intense feuds this year, including his rivalry with Drew McIntyre, which pushed both wrestlers to their absolute limits.
Punk is still just as much of a fan favorite as he was when he showed up on the cover of WWE ’13, so it certainly wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if he makes another appearance all these years later, especially since he’s guaranteed to be one of the biggest draws on Netflix.
1
Randy Orton
Featuring Randy Orton On The Cover Would Be A Heartfelt Homage To The Industry Icon
After making a grand return in the fleeting moments of 2023’s War Games, Randy Orton has had one hell of a run in 2024, going up against some giants in the business and holding his own without any ring rust slowing him down. His brutal confrontation with Gunther and nail-biting bouts with the Bloodline have made him a joy to watch and a real contender for the next game’s cover.
Orton has actually appeared on a few previous game covers, including 2K12 where he can be seen peeking over his shoulder with a creepy grin. This new babyface Randy Orton could have a much more vibrant look this time around, but regardless of whatever pose he pulls, it would be a perfect way to celebrate the return of a legend in the sport.
