Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is currently scheduled for release in 2025. Unfortunately, developers have yet to release anything resembling a more specific release date. In fact, fans are still in the dark about a number of things about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, some of which will hopefully be illuminated before it hits shelves later this year.
This radio silence could be taken as a cause for concern, but there certainly isn’t any reason to spiral into a full-blown panic just yet. After all, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond‘s latest trailer was relatively recent. The game will likely still release this year, and could receive another major update or two in order to build momentum before that date. However, given the track record of the game’s development, it wouldn’t hurt to exercise a bit of caution.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond may have a lot of ground to cover, but there’s no doubt that an official release date is the first item on the agenda. It’s currently unclear when this information may be revealed, but one can expect it to come sooner rather than later. After all, Metroid as a franchise is more than deserving of a little fanfare.
Despite being dormant for several years on end, Metroid is still a household name among Nintendo titles. If Metroid Prime 4: Beyond performs as well as one might hope, it would do a lot to revitalize the franchise in the eyes of the public. With this in mind, it seems fair to assume that Nintendo will put a solid effort into promoting Beyond before its release.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Could Be the Star of a Potential Nintendo Direct
If new announcements do begin to roll out, a Nintendo Direct may be the perfect place to begin. Unfortunately, there isn’t currently much word on when the next Nintendo Direct may be held. Nintendo has always kept this kind of information very close to the chest, so this is one factor that may remain a wild card.
When a Nintendo Direct inevitably rolls around in 2025, it seems safe to say that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond may receive the spotlight. As far as major upcoming titles are concerned, Metroid is seemingly only competing with Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Pokemon news is usually reserved for Pokemon Presents, which may keep the range wide open for Metroid to take home. However, there could be one other explanation for this power vacuum, one which may hold similarly major implications for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Could Have One More Surprise Before Release
Rumors have long suspected that the Nintendo Switch 2 could be revealed any day now. If the Switch 2 is finally revealed after all, it would seem more likely than not that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would be compatible with the console. Metroid Prime 4 could even be a Switch 2 launch title, similar to how Breath of the Wild was a Switch launch title after being developed for the Wii U. However, this would be an extremely optimistic outlook to have, and any speculation surrounding the Switch 2 should be taken with a grain of salt.
Last but not least, another delay certainly isn’t out of the question. Many have chalked up the relatively slow development cycle to “Nintendo being Nintendo”, thanks to the history of major releases being denied attention until a huge explosion in their final year. However, fans who have been following Metroid Prime 4 since its announcement aren’t likely to forget the “restart” announcement any time soon. Despite plenty of reasons to stay excited, sometimes it’s best not to hold one’s breath, just in case.
