The Veilguard Player Makes Mythal Look Like Morrigan

The Veilguard Player Makes Mythal Look Like Morrigan

Spoilers for Dragon Age: The Veilguard ahead

Summary

  • Mythal’s character model in Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn’t very unique, disappointing some fans.
  • Now, one of these fans has given her a new look, giving her a darker aesthetic and one more in keeping with Flemeth and Morrigan.
  • She even gets those cool dragon horns that Flemeth had in Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition.

Mythal is a character we have interacted with in every single Dragon Age game, but Dragon Age: The Veilguard took this to another level. Here, we interact with two different versions of the character – or rather, two fragments. This means we see yet another character model for Mythal, and this time one that isn’t shared with Flemeth or Morrigan.

Alas, fans have largely found this character model disappointing. Unlike other major characters, Mythal doesn’t seem to get much in the way of unique assets and looks like any old elf you could make in the character creator. This has pushed one fan to make their own improvements, making this incredibly important character much more imposing.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Modder Gives Mythal A New Look

The All-Mother looks a little more impressive now

Left: Mythal as she appears in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Right: A modded Mythal with a darker colour pallet and dragon horns in her hair

Mythal Overhaul was shared earlier today by Nexus Mods user doggomelette. As you can see, it gives her a much darker colour scheme and an aesthetic which is quite similar to the hosts of her other fragment, Flemeth and Morrigan.

Better yet, she’s sporting the horns that were part of Flemeth’s design from Dragon Age 2 onwards. This gives her more of a connection to the version of Mythal that we knew from Dragon Age: Origins to Dragon Age: Inquisition before The Veilguard became the first entry she was absent for.

As the mod’s author explains, Mythal is supposed to be an “immortal, enormously powerful draconic elf”, so this brings her more in line with what many of us were expecting. As it stands, I’m fairly sure I even have Mythal’s robes in my Rook’s wardrobe. The only asset that appears to be unique to her (and Morrigan) is the crown, which the mod keeps intact,

And if all of this is confusing you, it might be because you missed Mythal entirely. You only get to confront her if you beat the Regrets of the Dread Wolf questline, which is well worth it if you’re interested in the lore.
