The Batman Trailer Has Been Reimagined in the Style of 28 Years Later

Summary

  • A YouTube creator combined scenes from The Batman with the 28 Years Later soundtrack, creating an almost horror-like trailer.
  • The fan-made edit received praise for its fresh and insightful take, sparking excitement for a possible dark Batman horror movie.
  • The Batman Part 2 release has been delayed, but 28 Years Later is set to finally be released on June 20, 2025, exciting fans.

After a long wait, 28 Years Later finally popped its head up in December last year from its long-awaited post-apocalyptic setting to give fans a look at what’s next in store for the franchise. Even though the trailer was jam-packed with creepy imagery and haunting audio, one fan thought that they could do a better job by combining Matt Reeves’ The Batman with Danny Boyle’s upcoming zombie horror into a stunning edit.

Following in a long line of previous Caped Crusaders like Adam West, Christian Bale, and Michael Keaton, Robert Pattinson took to the spotlight in Reeves’ The Batman to showcase a Bruce Wayne that hasn’t been shown before. Known for his role as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga franchise from 2008 to 2012, Pattinson truly showed off his acting chops as he donned the iconic cape and cowl, proving a darker Batman who was only just discovering himself. Even though the original trailer for The Batman was already moody and dripping in violence, including the 28 Years Later soundtrack, somehow, makes it so much better.

Over on YouTube, creator and concept artist Jaxson Derr has reimagined an incredible edit of The Batman trailer by including that creepy and anxiety-inducing 28 Years Later poem, Boots, narrated by American actor Taylor Holmes. Throughout Derr’s The Batman edited trailer, chosen scenes have been placed from the movie to create an almost horror-like style that takes the PG-13 film to an R-rated level. To make it hit home even more, Derr inserted words like “Vengeance”, and “Incarnate” in bold lettering, and for the icing on the cake, included “From the visionary director, Matt Reeves” to really bring the mashup together.

As expected, Derr’s The Batman/28 Years Later edit brought fans across both franchises out of the woodwork to congratulate them on their incredibly insightful and fresh take on the trailer. One fan stated in the comment section of the video that it was “unbelievable how good this movie looks”, while another expressed that they would love to see “A true Batman horror movie” made in this style. This isn’t Derr’s first adventure into the world of mashing up two movies, as previously, they have recreated The Batman mixed in with the horror Longlegs, as well as one edit that showcases what Batman and a Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga style would look like.

As for when fans can finally see the continuation of Bruce in The Batman Part 2, James Gunn recently announced that the movie has been pushed back until October 1, 2027, which certainly stings for those excited to see it sooner. However, on a happier note and after a near-20-year gap in the series, 28 Years Later will finally be released on June 20, 2025.
