Almost ten years after its original release in 2014, The Sims 4 is still growing. While many other games might see a full decade in operation as the end of their lifespans, EA Games saw millions of new players try The Sims 4 in the last year alone. And with over 80 million lifetime players, The Sims 4 will likely add even more players for the foreseeable future, all looking to simulate a life or build their perfect in-game home.

Even with all of its possibilities, The Sims 4 can still get boring after a while. These storylines should help liven things up.
Of course, some players might also choose to buck the trend by building a home that’s decidedly imperfect. On the The Sims 4 subreddit, player Rhiannon1307 posted a picture of a particularly ramshackle real-life house, “daring” other players to build the “ugly house” in The Sims 4. Given that The Sims 4 is one of the best home architecture games around, a number of players took up the challenge, submitting their own cursed replicas.
The Sims 4 Players Replicate Real-Life Ugly House For Challenge
The real-life photo shared by Rhiannon1307 shows a rear view of a large, three-floor house that looks like several distinct houses merged together. The house is covered in dozens of windows, and appears to have had rooms added to it over time without respect to coherent design or architectural principles. Many players in the thread joked that the house looked like a real-life interpretation of their The Sims 4 gameplay, in which players will often add new rooms and house extensions as their needs dictate, rather than sticking with a single style or blueprint. Others likened the house to fictional architectural curiosities like the Weasley house from the Harry Potter series.
Some players took up the challenge, attempting to recreate the “cursed” house in The Sims 4 Free Build mode. Player Fine-Alternative-121’s attempt seemed to defy the laws of physics, with decks and additional wings sticking out at odd angles, giving the impression of a house suffering from collision glitches.
A build from player Ambyroo was a strikingly accurate replica of the real-life house, complete with stains, blemishes, yard debris, and other signs of wear and tear seen in the original photo. The only thing that couldn’t be approximated was the slight lean of the structure, since The Sims 4 forces players to build on level ground.
While players strove to recreate the unreal-looking house in-game, one user named FloweryPrimReaper did some detective work, finding and sharing the real-life location and more photos of the ugly house in Pennsylvania. According to their description, the house looks much better from the front. Its structure is divided into 14 different apartments to use as housing for college students, and features an “insane” layout but is otherwise structurally sound.
