MLB The Show 25 Teases New Legends and Major Changes To Game Mode

MLB The Show 25 Teases New Legends and Major Changes To Game Mode

Summary

  • MLB The Show 25 will reportedly address fan criticisms by changing Diamond Dynasty and Road to the Show.
  • The next entry is said to introduce new legends, revamp RTTS, and remove unpopular features like Sets and Seasons.
  • Potential legendary additions include Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, and Manny Ramirez.

MLB The Show fans can breathe a sigh of relief as new details on the next entry emerge. While the previous iteration was generally well-received, it still left many players wanting more from the game’s legends, and its changes to the Diamond Dynasty mode were unpopular, to say the least. Thankfully, MLB The Show 25 will address both issues.

Overall, the last entry in the MLB series was a strong entry. MLB The Show 24 was one of the best-selling games in July 2024, and the game looked and played great. Still, players weren’t happy with all the changes. The Sets and Seasons mechanic in Diamond Dynasty mode meant some cards were only available for a limited time, and Road to the Show felt weak and underdeveloped compared to the rest of the game. There’s good news on the horizon, though, as developer San Diego Studio says it’s heard the criticism and is taking it into account for The Show 25.

After experimenting with its formula in The Show 23, MLB The Show 24 is making some much-needed changes to Diamond Dynasty.

Forbes contributor Brian Mazique cited inside sources saying that MLB The Show 25 will feel like a fan-appreciation version of the franchise. As far as specifics go, the big changes include changing how Diamond Dynasty works, revamping Road to the Show, and adding a few much-demanded legends. San Diego Studio had already announced it was retiring Sets and Seasons from MLB The Show 25, but now it’s clear the developer will go much further than that to appease fans. On top of removing the less-liked features from the game mode, The Show 25 will also reportedly introduce several new packs and other content.

RTTS is also getting some needed improvements. While MLB The Show 24 added female players to the game mode and introduced a realistic draft process, many players still wanted more from it. According to Mazique, San Diego Studio has listened and will overhaul the pre-majors experience and introduce new features and payoffs throughout Road to the Show. The game’s franchise mode will also get fresh content, including a wider range of offseason features.

SDS could also add some big names from the 90s and early 2000s as legends. Fans have already pointed out that it’s time for Barry Bonds to appear in MLB The Show, and the next entry could be the one to bring the iconic slugger to the series. Other potential legends include Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, Nomar Garciaparra, and Roger Clemens. All of these possibilities are still up in the air, as devs have yet to formally announce any of the upcoming legends, but fans can expect MLB The Show 25 to be a big entry into the franchise.
