- Some users still had issues, needing to restart devices for accounts to be normal.
Microsoft Rewards has made an official statement on recent account suspensions that users reported receiving. The issue made many Microsoft Rewards users upset, as they hadn’t done anything wrong that would warrant the suspensions.
Earlier, myriads of users started reporting that their Microsoft Rewards accounts had been flagged and suspended. The suspension claimed that users were guilty of one of a few different things, including having more than one account, providing fake information, using the rewards program in areas it’s not available in, or using bots or VPNs to gain more points than they should. However, those who were reporting these suspensions claimed that they hadn’t done any of these things.

Now, Microsoft Rewards has officially responded to the concerns, acknowledging that an unnamed issue had led to unintentional suspensions. There’s no explanation as to what went wrong, though some users have speculated that the company may be working on new methods of detecting cheaters, and its rollout didn’t work properly. Regardless, Microsoft thankfully got to the issue pretty quickly, and has already released a fix that should roll back the suspensions to all accounts that had been incorrectly flagged. Many users have since reported that their accounts are back to normal, with their points earned through Xbox Game Pass quests and other online tasks were properly restored to what they had been previously.
Microsoft noted that the any affected accounts would be back to normal “in the next several hours,” and accordingly, not all users immediately found their accounts back in working order. As the hours have passed since, more users have recovered their accounts. However, some reported that they needed to not only log in and out of the program but completely restart their computers or phones for the account to appear correct again. Those who are still having problems with the rewards program should try doing the same. If that fails, it’s advisable to contact support for additional assistance.
Microsoft Rewards has given users headaches in the past, but it’s typically due to changing the way that rewards are earned, or the amount that users are awarded after completing certain tasks. While it can be a nuisance to encounter problems like this suspension wave or rewards changes, at the end of the day, Microsoft Rewards still allows users to earn gift cards and even earn Xbox Game Pass subscriptions for free. With any luck, Microsoft can figure out what went wrong with this rollout and ensure that it doesn’t happen again.
