Several weapons have been available in Monster Hunter Now ever since its launch, and one of these is the katana-like Long Sword. Those who use it will regularly sheath the blade in its holder before striking foes with devastating single strikes designed to take down even the largest of foes in the game.

Best Monster Hunter Now Long Sword Build
In order to have the best Monster Hunter Now Long Sword build, you’ll need plenty of preparation to unlock new weapon types as this features some late-game equipment. However, the entire point of this poison-based set is to increase the poison buildup of your current target, while also improving the overall damage dealt to it once it’s suffering from the affliction. On top of that, you’ll also upgrade the sheathing skill a little bit for extra damage.

Weapon, Vambraces, & Greaves
The Wyvern Blade “Luna” is the best Long Sword in the game, and it uses the Poison element to sap away a monster’s health. Much like the best Monster Hunter Now Sword and Shield build, we’re focusing on upgrading this high-end weapon to improve how often the status ailment triggers. The Poison Exploit skill increases the damage you do against any currently poisoned monster, and to get all five points in this skill, you’ll need to continuously hunt the Gold Rathian. This rare beast only appears during events in both Hunt-a-thons and regular hunts, to get the parts for the Long Sword itself, as well as the Vambraces and Greaves.
Vambraces & Coil
The other piece of the puzzle is the Poison Attack skill, which increases the buildup of poison each rank by a significant amount. You’ll already have one point in this by crafting the Gold Rathian’s Greaves, so luckily for you, the other monsters you’ll need to hunt for the other four points are the relatively common Pukei-Pukei and the regular green Rathian.
Helmet
Since we have all the points we need in the regular skills, we can pivot to another skill. Quick Work allows you to sheath and transform your current weapon faster, making your weapon a lot more efficient. You’ll need to farm Odogaron to get the two skill points in this weapon, which requires you to finish some of the current story quests to get it to reappear in the wild and via Paintball tracking.
Best Long Sword Driftsmelt Slots
Unfortunately, Driftsmelt Slots for other weapons such as the best Monster Hunter Now Light Bowgun build, there’s no way to bring Quick Work up to full without compromising the main skills significantly. However, you have plenty of slots to fill with pretty much whatever you please. You could go for a build that goes all in on attack with Attack Boost or one that allows you to circumvent techniques that interrupt your hunter’s attacks such as Earplugs, Tremor Resistance, and Windproof. Finally, you can try increasing affinity whenever you hit a monster’s weak points with the Weakness Exploit skill.

- Weakness Exploit – increases affinity when attacking a monster’s weak spot. By 20% at rank 1, and by 50% at rank 5. (Rare Pale only)
- Earplugs – reduces the effects of monster roars. Weak ones are fully nullified at rank 3 and strong monsters are neutralized at rank 5. (Pale only)
- Windproof – reduces the effects of wind pressure. Fully protects against weak gusts at rank 3 and strong winds are negated at rank 5. (Crimson only)
- Tremor Resistance – prevents the effects of weak tremors. It also reduces the stun of strong tremors at rank 2 and fully negates them at rank 3. (Azure only)
