How To Rank Up Understanding In Persona 4 Golden

Understanding is one of the five social stats in Persona 4 Golden, and unlike Knowledge, it is really only used for finishing certain social links. Not only does finishing a social link let you see the entire character’s story, but you’ll also be able to fuse very powerful Personas along with getting a lot of XP when fusing Personas of that Arcana.

While Understanding won’t help you pass your final exams, it’s still very important to start ranking it up right away during your free time. Here are the various ways you can rank up your Understanding in Persona 4 Golden.

How To Raise Understanding In Persona 4 Golden

Saying Understanding Things

When talking with your friends in any story-related conversation, saying the dialogue option that worries about them and is kind towards them may reward the player with a point in Understanding. These situations are rare, but there are no other benefits to choosing other dialogue options, so always go for the nicest option possible.

Fold Origami

One of the part-time jobs that unlocks on 4/23 is Origami Crane Folder. This does require some Diligence to start, but once you accept the job you can choose to fold Origami anytime in your room by interacting with the table in the middle of the room. This will also reward you with Yen, along with a potential bonus if you choose the right dialogue option when folding.

The book Easy Origami can be read to increase the Understanding you gain when folding Origami.

Work At The Daycare

Also available starting on 4/23 is the Assistant Day Care Caretaker job. Once accepted, you can go to the bus stop sign at the entrance to the Central Shopping District on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays when it’s not raining. Doing so will increase your Understanding, give you Yen, and begin a new social link.

Eat At Aiya

Failing the Mega Beef Bowl challenge on rainy days has the chance of giving you Understanding, but it may sometimes be the other three social stats required to complete the challenge. Coming back on other sunny days has a chance of there being a bowl that only increases your Understanding.

Spending Time With The Cat

After completing Quest #20, the cat you feed will occasionally appear outside the Dojima residence. When its there you can choose to spend time with it to increase your Understanding and also Expression.

Reading Books

There will be multiple books available throughout the game that can be read to increase your understanding, which can be purchased at the bookstore and then read on the couch in your room. The following books increase your Understanding:

  • Witch Detective
  • Sensei’s Friends
  • Changing Careers
  • Short On Cash
  • Off Today
