Final Fantasy 14 Composer Nobuo Uematsu Joins Forces With Kenny Omega For New Theme

Summary

  • Kenny Omega will debut a new theme song during Saturday’s Wrestle Dynasty event, and he’s bringing some help.
  • Omega has enlisted Final Fantasy composer Masayoshi Soken, vocalist Jason Miller and Nobuo Uematsu to help craft some new music.
  • This isn’t Omega’s first Final Fantasy-related homage, as he had a Sephiroth-themed entrance at Wrestle Kingdom 17.

When Kenny Omega makes his in-ring return during Saturday night’s Wrestle Dyansty event — a collaboration between upstart All Elite Wrestling, Japan’s New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom — he’ll do so with some new theme music. Normally, that’s nothing to write home about, as wrestlers often swap out entrance music, but in typical Omega fashion, he’s bringing in some help.

I’ll Never Love A Wrestling Game More Than I Loved WWF Attitude

A great game for the greatest era of the WWE.

As revealed on Twitter, Omega has enlisted the help of Masayoshi Soken, the composer behind Final Fantasy 14 and 16, for his new music. Additionally, noted musician and video game actor Jason Miller will provide vocals. Oh, and Nobuo Uematsu will provide a “special” voice.

As of this writing, it’s unclear what lane Omega’s entrance will take, or what kind of entrance gear he’ll wear. That said, it wouldn’t be the first time Omega has showcased his love for Final Fantasy.

Omega Is A Massive Final Fantasy Fan

If it wasn’t already clear by his announcement, Omega is a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series. At Wrestle Kingdom 17 — New Japan’s equivalent to WrestleMania — Omega debuted a Sephiroth-themed entrance, complete with the iconic track and matching gear.

The homages don’t stop there, either. Omega’s finishing move is another homage to Final Fantasy 7, with his finisher being called the “One Winged Angel.”

A noted video game fan, Omega also has moves called “Croyt’s Wrath,” the “V Trigger” and the “Dr. Wily Bomb,” among other homages. Oh, and his name? That comes from Final Fantasy 8.

In other words, this is all par for the course when it comes to Kenny Omega. As far as video game fantasies go, Omega is certainly living out every Final Fantasy fan’s biggest.
