- The increased spawn delay discourages players from playing Directed Mode to farm kills for Zombies camo challenges.
- Some players are concerned that Treyarch might make more changes to Directed Mode in the future.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players aren’t pleased about the latest change to Directed Mode in Zombies, since it affects the way players farm for kills needed to complete camo challenges. The change was applied in the January 3 update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which also introduced several bug fixes and adjustments to the game.
The latest Black Ops 6 update marked the beginning of the Squid Game collaboration, which brought new operators and cosmetics based on the popular Netflix series. A number of bug fixes and changes were made to Black Ops 6’s multiplayer and Zombies modes, including buffs to certain scorestreaks and Elemental Sword Wonder Weapons. Several bugs that affected the Citadelle des Morts Zombies map and its main quest were also addressed, and the map received support for Directed Mode, which guides less experienced players toward completing the main quest. However, the update extended the time between rounds and the delay between spawning zombies after five looped rounds at the round cap (round 15) in Directed Mode. This change dissuades veteran Zombies players from using the mode to farm and complete camo challenges, and the community doesn’t appear to be happy about it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Concerned New Squid Game Skin Is Pay to Win
The Call of Duty community is concerned that a new operator skin included in Black Ops 6’s Squid Game collaboration could be considered pay-to-win.
The Black Ops 6 community on Reddit is not happy with the Directed Mode change in Zombies, with many players chiming in with their thoughts on mikelman999’s post about the update. Some players believe Treyarch is strongly dictating the way the community plays Directed Mode in Black Ops 6, and others are frustrated that they must continue to grind camo challenges in the standard Zombies mode, since zombies become increasingly more resilient as the round count gets higher. A few Black Ops 6 players are also worried that Treyarch might make more changes to Directed Mode, such as limits to XP and rewards gained by playing the mode.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Aren’t Happy About the Zombies Spawn Delay Change in Directed Mode
After some testing, Black Ops 6 players like nicix95 discovered that it took about 40 seconds at most for zombies to spawn after five looped rounds on round 15 in Directed Mode. The delay in spawns may vary between 30 and 35 seconds as well. The player also confirmed that saving and quitting does not reset the spawn delay back to 20 seconds, so players may be better off playing the standard Zombies mode and finding other farming methods to earn their mastery camo in Black Ops 6.
It’s worth noting that Treyarch has not confirmed any future changes to Directed Mode just yet, however. Currently, all three Zombies maps in Black Ops 6 support Directed Mode, and players can obtain unique rewards for completing the Citadelle des Morts main quest before the end of Season 1 Reloaded. Black Ops 6 Season 2 is expected to begin on January 28 according to the current Battle Pass timer.
