If you want to beat the endgame of Honkai: Star Rail, a team of four characters who synergize well with each other is highly important. However, there are some characters that are a lot more reliant on their teammates than others since their kit gets a significant buff based on the allies.

Honkai: Star Rail – Ascension And Trace Materials For Firefly
If you’re planning to summon Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail, here are all the materials you’ll need to build her up.
Firefly is one of the unique characters that has aspects of her kit heavily relying on teammates but also some parts allowing her to solo-sustain. Thankfully, one of her best teammates is completely free for every player.
Updated on January 02, 2025, by Sanyam Jain: When Firefly was first released, she didn’t have a lot of teams that let her shine fully. Thankfully, there have been a lot of new support releases, and while they might be a little taxing to get, they will make your Firefly get some ridiculous numbers.

Before we move forward with this team, it’s important to mention that it’s a difficult team to have considering all four characters in it are limited five-star units. Honkai: Star Rail releases new characters at quite a fast pace, so it’s nearly impossible to have all four of these if you’re a relatively new player.
However, that doesn’t change the fact that this is the best Firefly team you’ll have. Not only does this team have three Fire characters that consistently attack the enemies, but also Ruan Mei, who essentially doubles the Toughness damage of these attacks.
Even if the enemies don’t have Fire weakness, Firefly can apply it with her Technique and buffed Skill.
Fugue also allows her team to deal 50 percent of the original Toughness DMG on enemies who don’t have the required weakness.
Even though Lingsha is the sustainer of this team, you’ll still see her easily dealing over 100,000 damage once all enemies on the field are Weakness Broken. It’s almost comical just how strong this team is as long as the enemy doesn’t hide away their weakness like Bronya or Sam.

Gallagher |
Sustainer/Sub-DPS |
Before saying anything else, it’s important to mention that you’ll commonly see Harmony Trailblazer in almost every possible team for Firefly. This is due to the Trailblazer’s Path being completely free for everyone to acquire and also one of the best units you can pair with Firefly. In some cases, you might not even need any other teammate with these two.
Harmony Trailblazer’s Ultimate allows you to deal Super Break DMG whenever one of her allies attacks a Weakness Broken enemy, and the multipliers for this Super Break are even higher than Firefly’s own multipliers. This takes the attacking character’s Break Effect and Toughness Reducing DMG into account, and Firefly has a lot of both of these.
The Super Break DMG from Firefly’s Bonus Ability occurs separately from the Super Break from the Trailblazer, allowing both of them to deal damage at the same time.
After using Firefly for a bit, you’ll quickly realize that 90 percent or more of her damage is locked behind breaking the enemy’s Weakness. While she already gets some Toughness Reduction DMG from her kit to help with this, Ruan Mei’s Skill can give her even more of this, which allows you to break almost every enemy’s Toughness pretty fast.
Finally, Gallagher is the best four-star sustainer you can use with Firefly because of a few reasons:
- Firefly can apply Fire Weakness on the enemy with her Enhanced Skill, and Gallagher shares the same combat type, giving you an even easier Toughness Break.
- Gallagher’s Ultimate applies the Besotted state on every enemy, which increases the Break DMG dealt by all characters including Super Break.
- Furthermore, Gallagher can deal quite a lot of Super Break DMG himself as long as you have Harmony Trailblazer on the team.
F2P-Friendly Firefly Team

Pela |
DEF Shredder |
Gallagher |
Sustainer/Sub-DPS |
Firefly’s F2P-friendly team is a lot similar to her main team since you’d only have to replace Ruan Mei as both Harmony Trailblazer and Gallagher are easy to acquire. Ruan Mei was also featured as a limited character alongside the first Firefly banner, but not everyone has the means to get both characters.
In these situations, you can use Pela as she can decrease every enemy’s DEF with her Ultimate, which is one of the few debuffs that actually buff the Super Break DMG. She can also deal a decent bit of Super Break DMG with this Ultimate, but it won’t be anything to be happy about.

If you don’t have access to Ruan Mei and Gallagher, you can also try out this team, but it will always give you less value than the main team in almost every situation. This team focuses mostly on getting Firefly as many turns as possible, especially when she’s in the buffed state, so you’ll need to build all the SPD you can on Sparkle or Bronya.
Aventurine is one of the best sustainers you can have in the game, and he’s also decent at shredding the enemy’s Toughness if they have Imaginary Weakness, saving him a spot on this team as well. However, you’ll notice that both the characters on the third and fourth slot can give a decent bit of Crit DMG buff to Firefly.
Normally, you wouldn’t want to build Crit on Firefly as she doesn’t deal high enough personal damage to warrant it.
With this team, you can try to get over 50 percent Crit Rate on her with random sub-stat rolls and enjoy some Crit hits with these buffers. It’s important to mention here, once again, that the team’s overall value will still be lesser than her best in slot team, and that team is also more F2P-friendly.

Buffer/Sub-DPS |
Boothill |

Ruan Mei |

The last team for Firefly can sound like a bit of a meme, and it is, but it can be quite strong in certain instances. Boothill was the first Break-type DMG-dealing five-star released to the game, and his banner was just before Firefly’s first banner. Unlike Firefly, he targets one enemy at a time with his attacks.
However, the amount of Toughness-Reducing DMG dealt by him is also much higher. Both of these characters can apply their combat type as weakness on the enemy, which already makes this team flexible. However, you’ll get the most value from it when the enemy inherently has Physical and Fire Weaknesses.
You don’t even need a sustainer in this team because of how fast you’ll break the enemy’s Toughness, especially if you’re fighting single-target bosses.
Once you have the enemy’s Weakness Broken with this team, you’ll quickly see their HP disintegrate as you attack them with both Boothill and Firefly. The one difficult thing about this team, however, will be maintaining your Skill points.
