Fans Think Milly Alcock’s Supergirl Appeared in the Superman Trailer
Warner Bros. and DC dropped the first official trailer for Superman two weeks ago. In one scene, Superman seemingly mourns over a metallic robot. Kelex, a Kryptonian service automaton, is the custodian of the Fortress of Solitude. Kelex also served the House of El before the planet Krypton was annihilated. Since Kelex was made of metal, fans saw a reflection of a woman in his head. Many of them were convinced that they were seeing Supergirl. Thus, there was speculation that Alcock would appear in the film. “Could this be Supergirl in the Superman trailer?” DC Brief asked on X, formerly Twitter. The post received mixed responses, with some agreeing with the observation. “Nice catch! ” Yeah, I can see a person in it and it looks like long blond hair,” one commented amid the Supergirl discussion, acknowledging the blurred woman figure on Kelex’s head.
However, some argued that they couldn’t see Supergirl and others claimed the figure wasn’t a woman figure but a robot. Others suggested that it was Krypto the Superdog. Krypto’s appearance in the Superman movie has already been confirmed. In the first part of the trailer, the superhero is battered and bleeding in the snow, so he calls Krypton for help. So, the argument that the reflection could be Krypto’s was sound. Many were also unsure about the figure that reflected on Kelex’s head. One fan decided to tag James Gunn, the director of the film and co-CEO of DC Studios, in their comments, hoping to get confirmation of the rumors that Supergirl will be in the Superman movie. “@JamesGunn is this Super Girl? Can u confirm that,” the X user asked.
The possibility of Alcock making her debut as Supergirl in Superman is likely. It is usual for superheroes to make a cameo in another movie before their solo films are released. For example, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman debuted in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. Wonder Woman was released a year later. Tom Holland also debuted as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War (2016). His first solo movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, was released in July 2017. The same pattern could possibly happen to Alcock’s Supergirl. Gunn could introduce Supergirl in Superman because Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release a year later.
Also, Alcock’s casting was announced before Superman entered its final stages of production. The timing could suggest her possible inclusion in the film. Having Alcock’s Supergirl in the Superman film also made sense because of the two superheroes’ connection, since they are cousins. Since Gunn explores Superman’s relationships with other characters, Supergirl could be among them. Most importantly, introducing Supergirl in Superman would create a narrative bridge to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Superman will hit theaters on July 11, 2025, while Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be released on June 26, 2026.
