Each Archon is the peak of what their element strives to accomplish, and with Pyro being the element most associated with damage and strength, Mavuika is among the strongest Archons in Genshin.

While she is one of the most powerful characters ever released in Genshin Impact, her kit has many nuances that can make or break how much of an improvement she can bring to your account. Here’s everything you need to consider before finally deciding, should you pull for Mavuika?

Mavuika’s Elemental Burst Doesn’t Use Energy

Do Away With Energy Recharge Needs

A character’s Elemental Burst is the strongest move in their arsenal. Not only does it have a huge cooldown, but it requires you to fill up your Energy to cast it. This very justifiable condition, for whatever reason, does not apply to the Pyro Archon, whose Burst requires no Energy whatsoever.

Instead, Mavuika builds up Fighting Spirit from party members spending Nightsoul Points or using their Normal Attacks. While the ability to use your Bursts on command is certainly convenient, relying on Nightsoul Points locks the best Mavuika teams behind Natlan characters or fast-hitting Normal Attack users, such as Clorinde.

Mavuika Needs Xilonen

Mavuika needs Natlan characters to stack up her Fighting Spirit for her Burst. Even if her other teams can get the 100 required for her Elemental Burst, Mavuika can get up to 200 in total. Each point above the 100 required for the Burst further increases Mavuika’s damage.

While any Natlan character can make do, there are some that are better than others. Specifically, all other characters apart from Xilonen or Citlali result in a DPS loss in the best Mavuika DPS teams. This is because Kinich, Mualani, and even Ororon spend their Nightsoul Points over a period of time whereas Xilonen can give Mavuika 80 points immediately upon using her Skill.

Mavuika Is Good In Multiple Roles

Best Hypercarry, Off-Field DPS, And Support

Every Genshin Impact Archon has revolutionized its Element’s specialization. However, every single one of these has been geared more towards support and utility than DPS. Mavuika, at first glance, breaks this trend by being best as a hypercarry.

However, despite her absurd scaling, Mavuika functions completely fine in any role you put her in. As an applicator or buffer, a Mavuika on the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City set can provide tons of buffs on top of already having decent damage. If you build her as an off-field DPS instead, her damage heightens, and she deals a large portion of the team’s damage from her Elemental Skill and Burst, despite not taking any field time.

Elemental Mastery Is Better Than ATK

She Already Gets Tons Of ATK

With Pyro being the Element associated most with ATK, Mavuika has tons of ways of getting her ATK up. Her passives increase her ATK, her signature weapon grants her ATK, and her best teammates, including Bennett, increase her ATK further. What this leads to is Mavuika not benefiting much from the stat, making Elemental Mastery a better alternative.

For this reason, you’d usually want an Elemental Mastery sands on your Mavuika. You’d also want to look for stats like EM or CRIT on your artifacts. Despite all this, though, ATK isn’t at all worthless, and if you find a good piece that’s rolled once or twice into the stat, you shouldn’t avoid it just due to the ATK.

Mavuika’s Charged Attacks Are Much Better Than Her Normals

Genshin Impact characters that use Claymores have never had the best Charged Attacks. Since they hit quicker, Hoyoverse has balanced them around having weaker scaling than the Normal Attacks. Furthermore, since you have better control over what hits to cause reactions with when using your Normals, using your CA on any greatsword-wielding character apart from Noelle is a waste.

Fortunately, this doesn’t apply to Mavuika, whose best way of culling enemies is by running them over while drifting in circles with her motorbike. Her Normal Attack scaling is still quite good, reaching up to around 200 percent per attack at higher levels, but the 300 percent damage triggers on her Charged Attacks are just much, much better.

Is Mavuika Better Than Xiangling?

Mavuika is good both as a main DPS who strives on-field and as a support that can rain down solar flares from the sky to burn her enemies. Her off-field capabilities specifically have caused many to compare her to Xiangling, thought by many to be the strongest off-fielder in the game.

This comparison only talks about their off-field damage. Even in her off-field teams, Mavuika can use her Elemental Burst every rotation, increasing her personal damage to more than twice as much as Xiangling’s.

As for who’s better, it’s quite complicated. Looking at damage numbers alone, Mavuika has higher scaling than Xiangling. This is increased further with Mavuika having lots of ways to increase her ATK, as well as her not needing Energy Recharge, something Xiangling suffers from greatly.

However, Xiangling’s Pyronado hits faster and can apply more Pyro. This creates a system where, if you’re using Xiangling as a support to have someone like Wriothesley Melt their attacks, Xiangling is a better option due to the faster application. However, for teams that merely want damage, Mavuika is a significant upgrade.

Mavuika May Have Problems With Obsidian Codex

She Can’t Spend Nightsoul Points During Her Burst

If you’re talking about the best artifact sets in Genshin Impact, the Obsidian Codex will always make the list. On the condition that the equipping character belongs to Natlan, it offers a whopping 40 percent CRIT Rate, something unrivaled by other sets.

However, Mavuika specifically may have a problem with it, which just goes to show how being a Natlan character is not all there is to using the set. Instead, you have to spend Nightsoul points to activate the effect. This becomes a problem for Mavuika since she doesn’t spend any during her Burst.

Even if she doesn’t have the extra CRIT for the last few seconds of her Burst, she deals high enough damage when she does have it that missing out on a small portion of her damage isn’t all that bad.

Mavuika Has The Highest Damage Potential In The Game

1.4K Percent Of Her ATK As Pyro Damage

From a C2 Raiden’s Burst to a properly built Mualani’s enhanced Normal Attack, Genshin Impact has plenty of characters that can output absurd amounts of damage in a single instance. However, Mavuika takes the throne for the highest single-instance damage, despite already having good consistent DPS and off-field capabilities.

Mavuika’s Elemental Burst’s Sunfell Slice deals about 800 percent of her attack as damage. This already puts her above the likes of other hard hitters like Arlecchino and Childe. However, she further increases this damage depending on how much Fighting Spirit she has, up to a whopping 1,400 percent of her ATK. If this wasn’t already game-breaking enough, Mavuika has access to some of the best ATK buffs in the game while also being a Pyro character, letting her Vaporize or even Melt this hit.

Shimenawa’s Reminiscence Doesn’t Work With Mavuika

Can’t Spend Energy If You Don’t Have Energy

To the more experienced Genshin players, hearing that Mavuika has no Energy requirements may make you think Shimenawa is the perfect set for her since most of her damage is locked behind her Charged Attacks. Unfortunately, Shimenawa’s Reminiscence has a description that states: “If you have more than 15 Energy, spend 15 Energy to increase the damage of your Normal and Charged Attacks.”

Since Mavuika would never have 15 Energy, or any Energy at all for that matter, fulfilling this condition becomes impossible. Even if she was able to use the set, though, a large portion of her damage is tied to her Elemental Burst’s initial hit, something not buffed by Shimenawa’s Reminiscence.
