While a lot of weapons and gear can be found while exploring or purchased in stores, Dragon Quest 11: Echoes Of An Elusive Age gives players a full crafting mechanic to let them make some of the best weapons possible. A lot of gear can be further upgraded using this system, while others are made from scratch.
As you get towards the end of the game, the best gear possible will exclusively require crafting, and it’s best to put some time into the system to be able to craft the best gear though this will require rare materials. Kaleidocloth is one of these rare materials players won’t come across naturally; here’s how to get and farm them.
How To Farm Kaleidocloth In Dragon Quest 11
Kaleidocloth can be traded for from Krystalinda in the Sniflheim Castle using Serpent’s Souls. While this may seem like a complex system, Serpent’s Souls can easily be farmed by heading to the Dundrasil Ruins. The large dragon enemies that spawn later in the game in this area are called Royal Reptiles, and they have a chance of dropping a Serpent’s Soul when defeated.
While defeating them only has a chance of dropping a Serpent’s Soul, you can also use Erik’s Half-Inc ability to steal a Serpent’s Soul to make the process more reliable and faster. You can increase the odds of successfully stealing them by:
- Getting skills to increase your chances of stealing.
- Equipping gear that increases your chances of stealing.
- Upgrading Erik’s overall Deftness.
Only one Serpent’s Soul can be stolen or dropped from an enemy, so once you get one you might as well run away from combat as anything else is a waste of time. These enemies can quickly respawn by leaving the area and coming back, letting you farm many Serpent’s Souls quickly, as two Royal Serpent’s spawn each time you enter the area.
Farm as many Serpent’s Souls as you need Kaleidocloths, as traveling back and forth can be the most time-consuming part of this process even when fast-traveling.
With a few Serpent’s Souls in hand, zoom over to Sniflheim and head into the throne room with Krystalinda standing near the throne. You can only trade one Serpent’s Soul at a time, and you can choose to trade it for:
- Crimsonite
- Kaleidocloth
- Black Tear
The process of trading with her can be a bit tedious as you can only trade one item at a time, but beyond that there are no limits or restrictions on this farming process, much like Pep Pops, letting you get as many Kaleidocloths as you’re willing to steal.
