Despite being “fruits”, Devil Fruits themselves are said to have an awful taste. People unaware that it only takes one bite to gain a Devil Fruit’s power may still eat the entirety of these disgusting, deformed fruits. Even so, there are a noteworthy number of Devil Fruits that allow their users to harness the powers of various foods.

This list will look at Oden’s nine most trusted retainers, and view how they stack up to one another.
To qualify for this list, Devil Fruits will have to unavoidably revolve around food or diet; gray areas, such as Tamago’s Devil Fruit (which focuses on the various life stages of a chicken, rather than its existence as an edible dish), will not qualify. These Devil Fruit users have managed to do a fairly solid job of integrating various potentially edible objects into their respective arsenals.

Baku Baku no Mi
Eating the Inedible
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Wapol
Wapol’s Devil Fruit, the Baku Baku no Mi, is a fairly unique Devil Fruit in how its power is directly tied to the user’s diet. The Baku Baku no Mi allows the user to eat otherwise inedible objects as if they were any other kind of food. Afterward, the user can transform the devoured objects into parts of their body, and potentially use them as weapons. The user is also capable of fusing multiple eaten objects into composite creations, which he is shown doing both with his subordinates, and some garbage that he inadvertently fused into newfangled toys upon eating it. Wapol is also capable of slimming down by swallowing himself and modifying his bone structure.
The limits known to the Baku Baku no Mi are the amount of time for which the user can call upon an object after eating it (roughly a day) and the appetite it gives its user, necessitating the usage of these newfound powers. Wapol’s own favorite food as a result of his Devil Fruit is apparently “baked houses.” It is unclear if the user can call upon the powers of conventional meals as well as the “foods” they will crave upon having eaten this Devil Fruit, but it is perhaps possible their portions may no longer appeal to the user.

Kuku Kuku no Mi
Food Everywhere
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Streusen
Streusen is one of the earliest members of the Big Mom Pirates, a crew formed by Charlotte “Big Mom” Linlin. The pirate crew is partially food-themed, which means various members of the crew will dominate this list in terms of numbers.
Streusen’s Devil Fruit, the Kuku Kuku no Mi, seemingly allows its user to transform any inanimate object into food. In the past, he was seen using this power to cut slices of meat from a log. He seems to be able to interact with and transform said objects through the use of a blade such as that of a sword or even a knife, but it is unclear if this is merely his preference or the default manner of using it. This food provides sustenance, but much like Devil Fruits themselves, is reputed to have an awful taste. Ironically, Streusen’s own cooking skills are said to be superb.
Although one may primarily think this is useful for survival, it also has tactical utility as well. Streusen transformed the Whole Cake Chateau into a sponge cake, for the sake of rescuing the people in the building and the nearby city from being hurt by it.

Kuri Kuri no Mi
Creaming the Competition
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Charlotte Opera
Charlotte Opera is the Minister of Whipped Cream. Accordingly, the Kuri Kuri no Mi allows him to create and control cream. Opera is capable of harming his opponents with this cream, as its sugar is capable of giving users third degree burns in the most extreme of circumstances. Opera is one of five quintuplets, who all have similar builds, including long beards, short legs, and bumpy scalps. Opera distinguishes himself from the set by being coated in cream. This is possibly a tactical decision, as enemies would likely be burned upon making physical contact with his cream-covered body.

Bata Bata no Mi
Butterfingers
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Charlotte Galette
Charlotte Galette is the Minister of Butter, which her Devil Fruit, the Bata Bata no Mi, lets her create and control. Galette’s butter is particularly sticky, enough so for her to make use of it when restraining opponents. Any further extent of its power as either a weapon or food has gone unremarked. This is likely due to the limited amount of screen time Galette has received thus far.
7
Mochi Mochi no Mi
A Special Paramecia
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Charlotte Katakuri
Charlotte Katakuri is the Minister of Flour. Rather than having a Devil Fruit purely revolving around this ingredient, his powers are instead rooted in mochi from the Mochi Mochi no Mi. Katakuri’s mochi is a somewhat amorphous substance that he can transform into, in addition to creating and controlling. This is somewhat odd, as the former power is more commonly associated with a Logia, and this Devil Fruit is classified as a “Special Paramecia.” Like most Logia users, Katakuri cannot be damaged by attacks that are not coated with armament haki, or some other nullifying agent, such as seastone. The distinction is likely made due to Mochi not being an element or natural substance, unlike the majority of canon Logia fruits.

Outside its Logia-adjacent properties, Katakuri’s Devil Fruit functions quite similarly in some respects to the Gomu Gomu no Mi. It allows him to make use of outstretched limbs (albeit ones manipulated by mochi) and often coats these attacks with armament haki. Katakuri has also awakened the Mochi Mochi no Mi, allowing him to transform his surroundings into mochi as well.

Pero Pero no Mi
Candy Coated Combat
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Charlotte Perospero
Charlotte Perospero is the Minister of Candy. The Pero Pero no Mi is a Devil Fruit that allows him to create and control candy. Due to his own skills at molding candy, the Devil Fruit has a versatile array of abilities. Perospero’s skills are such that he can fashion an apparently functional replica of Caesar Clown’s lab out of his candy. He often uses this ability to create a variety of weapons, such as a bow and an axe, among others.
5
Shibo Shibo no Mi
A Juicy Form Of Torture
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Charlotte Smoothie
As the Minister of Juice, the aptly named Charlotte Smoothie’s Shibo Shibo no Mi has unsurprising abilities. Smoothie is able to not only squeeze juice out of inanimate objects, but also living beings, which desiccates them in the process. Smoothie can also absorb this juice into her weapons as well as her body, to increase their size and strength. Smoothie tends to prefer juicing using her hands, but is also seen doing so with her sword.
Unlike most Devil Fruit powers, the juice derived from this ability is seemingly delicious. This is likely due to it not coming from the Devil Fruit itself. Smoothie was notably seen savoring the taste of a woman’s juice after wringing it out of her body. The flavor of the juice apparently differs depending on what it was taken from. Smoothie is seen juicing unconventional ingredients, such as a giraffe and a volcanic rock, at Sanji and Pudding’s wedding.
4
Bisu Bisu no Mi
A Biscuit Battalion
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Charlotte Cracker
Charlotte Cracker is the Minister of Biscuits, which he can also create and control with his Bisu Bisu no Mi. Cracker can conjure up a seemingly endless amount of biscuits by clapping. He transforms these biscuits into lifelike humanoid puppets, which he uses to attack his opponents. Cracker has notably hid inside one of said puppets, so the World Government would assume it was his actual identity. The hardness of the biscuits is such that they are difficult to naturally chew, meaning one has to battle their way out of the Devil Fruit’s powers.
Cracker managed to use his ability to climb the ranks, becoming one of the crew’s Three Sweet Commanders, a role set aside for the Big Mom Pirates’ top-ranked officers, alongside the likes of Smoothie and Katakuri. However, situational weaknesses can limit the Bisu Bisu no Mi’s effectiveness. A combination of Nami’s ability to make it rain with her clima-tact, and Luffy’s own bottomless pit of a stomach, allowed the pair to claim victory over Cracker in 11 hours.
3
Kibi Kibi no Mi
Taming Treats
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Kurozumi Tama
Kurozumi Tama’s Devil Fruit allows her to create dango dumplings. By pinching her cheek with a circular combination of her thumb and index finger, she can create a dumpling. These dumplings are not nourishing, but they can be fed to an animal to tame it for a month. Tama is the sole creator of the dumplings, and as a result, the animals will follow her commands to the letter. This had great implications for the war between the Kozuki and Kurozumi clans. Despite being descended from the Kurozumi clan, Tama is dedicated to regaining glory for the Kozuki clan, and has been raised by Sukiyaki, one of its members.

A number of the Beasts Pirates were SMILE users. SMILEs were artificial Zoan Devil Fruits, which allowed their consumers to develop physical traits of various animals. Unlike actual Zoans, these traits are now permanent features of their body, essentially making them part-animal. Tama used this fact to control them as well. The most notable victim of the dumplings was Speed, one of Kaido’s subordinates who resembled a centaur, and developed an especially strong bond with Tama. By feeding each user a dumpling, Tama was able to turn a number of Kaido’s forces against him. Unfortunately, these dumplings take energy to create and can exhaust Tama if she produces too many at once. These powers also do not work on regular Zoan users, presumably since their animal traits can be reined in at their discretion.

Gabu Gabu no Mi
An Alcoholic Attack
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Vasco Shot
Vasco Shot is a heavy drinker, with it being referenced in both his name and moniker, to varying degrees. His Devil Fruit, the Gabu Gabu no Mi, was one of many collected by various members of the Blackbeard Pirates, during their active effort to hunt down various powers and add them to their arsenal. He has only been seen performing a single named attack with it, where he regurgitates alcohol that somehow is set aflame, which can be used to burn his foes.
Due to being a fairly new power, it is unclear what exactly the schematics of it are, but if it allows its user to create and control alcohol, then one shouldn’t have to think too hard to understand why Shot would take a shine to it.
1
Ame Ame no Mi
A Sticky Situation
- This Devil Fruit was consumed by Gasparde
- Note: This Devil Fruit is non-canon
Gasparde’s Devil Fruit is unique among food-themed Devil Fruits. Rather than being a Paramecia, or even a “Special Paramecia”, it is a full-blown Logia. Using the Ame Ame no Mi, Gasparde can become, create, and control the “element” of candy syrup, which sports a shade of dark green. Gasparde’s power affords him the ability to mold his candy syrup into painful spikes, make it an adhesive to hinder foes, or otherwise dodge attacks by transforming into it, making it similar to a number of other confection powers.
Uniquely, Gasparde can seemingly control candy syrup as both a solid and at least semi-liquid substance, contrasting with most Logia users who largely use their elements in a single state. However, like certain Logia, it has an extra weakness foes can utilize to nullify it. In this case, the Ame Ame no Mi is weak to flour, which can make Gasparde vulnerable to physical attacks once he comes into contact with it.
