More supposed information about the Nintendo Switch 2 has been leaked online, including details about its dev kit hardware and some of the games that might be in development for the new system. The next Nintendo console will reportedly be revealed sometime between now and the end of the current fiscal year in March 2025, and fans have been waiting anxiously for any new details about the forthcoming system.
So far, the only thing officially known about the tentatively named Nintendo Switch 2 is that it will be backward compatible with games from the original Switch, as confirmed by Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa in November 2024. As the gaming world waits for the system to be shown in full, rumors and supposed leaks have painted the picture of a console that retains the hybrid design of the current Nintendo Switch with updated hardware on par with the PlayStation 4 Pro. As for exclusive launch titles, a past rumor hinted that a Nintendo Switch 2 update of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could be on the horizon.

Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2 Leak Reveals Unexpected Joy-Con Color
A new leaked picture of the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons reveals not only a shocking color change but also a possible layout revamp.
Earlier this week, a Famiboards user translated and posted a supposed collection of Nintendo Switch 2 leaks from a known insider on a Chinese forum. While this information can’t be verified yet, it describes the Nintendo Switch 2 development kits that were supposedly sent to major developers nearly two years ago. These kits are said to resemble tablets, with developers using separate original Switch Joy-Cons as controllers. This suggests that the Switch 2 will be backward compatible with its predecessor’s controllers, but the insider thinks that the studios later received updated Switch 2 Joy-Cons. The touchscreen is also said to be more sensitive than that of the original Nintendo Switch.
New Alleged Nintendo Switch 2 Details Leak Online
According to the unnamed insider, indie developers reportedly found the Nintendo Switch 2 dev kit’s workload to be slightly worse than the PlayStation 4 Pro when it comes to running software, but they admit that they might not have done enough optimization and that they aren’t entirely aware of the system’s hardware specifications. Some of the indie games being reportedly made with the Nintendo Switch 2 development kit are said to have already been released on the old Switch, and the Nintendo eShop submission page is supposedly identical to the one on the first Switch.
There are also rumors of outsourced game assets that suggest Nintendo is working on a new Mario Kart game in the style of 2003’s Mario Kart: Double Dash, though this could also be for a new Sonic kart racer instead. Additionally, someone reportedly heard that Nintendo is developing a new 2D Mario platformer, complete with a stage referencing 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Some of the other potential Nintendo Switch 2 games named in these yet-unverified leaks include Monolith Soft’s Project X Zone, a new Custom Robo sequel, and an Assassin’s Creed title. All of this should be met with skepticism until more concrete information surfaces.
