A Dead by Daylight Mobile player is trying to keep the survival horror game alive following the announcement that Behaviour Interactive and NetEase Games will be shutting it down in 2025. This avid fan of Dead by Daylight Mobile has launched an online petition that’s gotten some attention from fellow fans, but it’s unclear whether that support will sway that publisher’s decision to end mobile service.

In late December 2024, NetEase, which helped to create the mobile version of Behaviour Interactive’s popular PC and console game, announced that Dead by Daylight Mobile would be shutting down in the early months of 2025, citing a shift in the company’s strategies. While the game will still be playable on mobile devices until March 20, the deadline for downloading it is fast approaching. It will be removed from both the App Store and Google Play on January 15, so those who have never played, have deleted the app, or who are getting a new phone will be locked out earlier than others.

That news did not sit well with player Alexander Azarov, who has been logging in almost every day over the past two years and has several friends that he met through the game. Azarov has started a petition on Change.org, asking NetEase and Behaviour to spare the mobile game from the chopping block, and has gathered more than 3,000 verified signatures so far. The player had been enamored by Dead by Daylight‘s asymmetrical horror aspects when the game was first launched for PC in 2016, but he didn’t have a machine powerful enough to run it, so he was thrilled when the mobile version was released nearly four years later. He started his petition four weeks ago to help bridge the wealth gap for players who don’t have a powerful PC or console to play on, stating, “The mobile version of the game gave everyone from the poor to the rich the opportunity to play the role of a survivor or a killer and have fun in this amazing world.”

Dead by Daylight Fan Begs Publisher to Save Mobile Version

The decision to shut down the mobile version of Dead by Daylight has left some fans scratching their heads, as the game still seems to be popular among horror fans. Launched in limited regions in April 2020, it saw its one-millionth download within 48 hours of release, and by the first anniversary of Dead by Daylight Mobile, that number had ballooned to surpass 17 million downloads. The most recent data from analytics site Similarweb shows the app registering about 75,000 downloads for the month of October 2024 on Google Play alone, with significant growth over the previous two months.

While mobile fans mourn the upcoming loss of their game, the developer is trying to encourage mobile players to switch over to Dead by Daylight on PC or console. Behaviour is offering a welcome package containing at least 500,000 Dead by Daylight Blood Points and 2,250 Iridescent Shards to any app user who registers their app information on their Behaviour Interactive account, an offer that is even available to those already playing Dead by Daylight on PC or console.
