Dark Souls Remastered: 13 Pro Tips For Farming Titanite

Titanite is crucial for upgrading your equipment in Dark Souls — and you’ll need a lot of it. This guide will outline the best tips for farming it.

With ten embers found in the game, hunting them down is incredibly important for your progression. Some are hidden in chests, guarded by enemies, or even resting in the hands of dead Blacksmiths. If you’re looking to upgrade your weapons to the highest degree, we tracked down all the embers for you so you can get the strongest weapons possible.

Large Ember

Found Deep In The Depths

The Large Ember is located in the Depths, which can be accessed from the Lower Undead Burg. You can only access this area after defeating the Capra Demon, making the Large Ember the first one you will find in a playthrough. After entering the kitchen, carve your way through a cornucopia of enemies until you reach a large open area that resembles a dining hall.

There, you will find a Butcher among the other enemies. Once you’ve dispatched him, you will find a chest in the same room that holds the Large Ember. Bringing this Ember to Andre will let you:

  • Modify +5 normal weapons up to +10 normal
  • Change a +5 normal weapon up to +5 raw

Very Large Ember

Submerged In New Londo Ruins

The Very Large Ember can be found in the New Londo Ruins, though it requires some work to get. You have to lower the water level before you can reach the Very Large Ember. From the opening area, proceed forward until you come across a staircase. Take the ruined stairs up, past a few spirits, and make a left once you enter the ruins after a short bridge.

You can reach the Very Large Ember without lowering the water level, but it takes considerable effort, so it’s best to wait until then.

There will be a lever and an enemy immediately after you turn. Dispatch the spirit and pull the lever. After riding the elevator down, you’ll follow a small path to your left, and then left again until you find a small spiral stairwell. Take the first door you come across and then your first right turn. Follow this winding path to another stairwell until you reach a clearing. Take a sharp right at the top of the stairs across a narrow path, and you’ll find your Ember in a chest. Once you have it, the Very Large Ember will let you:

  • Modify +10 normal weapons up to +15 normal

Divine Ember

In The Grasp Of A Blacksmith

Hidden in the Darkrood Garden is The Divine Ember and is among one of the easier Embers you can find. After you defeat the Moonlight Butterfly, instead of going back down the way you came, you need to go straight ahead across the bridge and into the tower.

Climb the stairs to the top to find a petrified Blacksmith with the Divine Ember and a Watchtower Basement Key. If you forget to climb the tower you can come back to this area any time during the game to pick up the Ember. Once you bring the Ember back to Andre, you can:

  • Change a +5 normal weapon up to +5 divine

Large Divine Ember

Hidden Among Large Friends

Found in the Tomb of the Giants, the Large Divine Ember is guarded by, as you might guess, giants. From the first bonfire, go straight and up the ladder. You will come across Giants Skeletons who will surely try to kill you or make you fall. You can slip past the Giant Skeletons by taking the path immediately to the right after you climb the ladder.

Follow this narrow path past a small cave until you reach a portion of carved rock with a square hole in the ground, immediately after the cave. Take a dive off the stone bridge you find yourself on and you’ll land in a room with six Giant Skeletons. They won’t all attack at once, so get rid of them and head to the back of the room where the petrified Blacksmith sits with the Large Divine Ember. Andre can use that Ember to:

  • Change a +5 divine weapon up to +10 divine

Dark Ember

A Painter’s Dream

The Dark Ember is located in the Painted World of Ariamis, which in itself requires you to get the Peculiar Doll in the Undead Asylum before entering. Before getting the Ember, though, we need the Annex Key. Head straight toward the starting building and make an immediate left through the courtyard, hugging the left wall. You’ll quickly come across some gravestones and a broken well with a ladder heading down.

The path with split, with the Key down the left path. Watch out for a Skeleton Wheel that will attack you from the right, however. Follow the path to the left until you come across another split in the hall, but attack the wall directly in front of you to reveal a hidden door. Continue to the end to find the Annex Key and another Skeleton Wheel.

Head back out, climbing the ladder, and to the opposite side of the courtyard. There are tons of enemies here, but you can run past them easily. Taking a left, you’ll find a wooden door at the top of some steps where you’ll use the Annex Key. Take the several flights of stairs to your left up and out onto the walls of the castle. Follow the path, past three Bulbous enemies, and you’ll find the Ember in a clearing just below you on the corpse. Andre can use this Ember to:

  • Change a +5 divine weapons into +5 occult.

Dark Souls 2: 13 Hardest Bosses, Ranked

You either ‘git gud’ or you die trying.

Large Magic Ember

In A Dragon’s Hoard

The Large Magic Ember is located in The Duke’s Archives, and requires you to have bested the traitor dragon Seath the Scaleless. All you really have to do is head back to the boss room to get the chest. This will have you travel up the large staircase in the library and heading around to the back of the library until you reach the elevator on the second story.

Take it up and then the path before you on the right once it stops. Going up the crystal-covered stairs will take to you the arena, with the chest sitting right in the middle of the grounds. Rickert in the New Londo Ruins can make use of the Large Magic Ember to:

  • Modify +5 magic weapons up to +10 magic

Enchanted Ember

Hidden In A Fungi’s Chest

Hidden with the mushrooms in the Darkrood Garden, you’ll find the Enchanted Ember. Starting from the bonfire, take an immediate left as you walk through the archway of the ruins. You’ll need the Crest of Artorias before you go too far since you need it to open the stone door you’ll find here. Head into the woods, going as straight as you can until you see an archway before in the mist. This will lead to a larger building across a narrow stone path.

Take the stairs down to another wooded area and head to the far right. There will be two large mushroom fellas in a small pond, but be careful since they pack a huge amount of power in their punches. Once you dispatch them you can access the chest submerged in the water for the Ember.

Bringing the Enchanted Ember back to Rickert will let him:

  • Upgrade +5 magic weapons to +10 magic

Dark Souls 3: Every Game Ending, Ranked

Dark Souls 3 is similar to its predecessors in that it’s challenging action RPG with a vague story. We’ve ranked every possible ending you can get.

Crystal Ember

In The Depths Of The Library

Much like the Large Magic Ember, the Crystal Ember is located in The Duke’s Archives and can be found starting from the same bonfire. Make an immediate right after entering the library, following the shelves until you come across a doorway leading to a bright room. Continue through the doorway on the right-hand side into another, more cluttered library.

Follow the shelves on the right-hand side of the room as soon as you enter, and you’ll quickly see a large gap between two of the dishelved shelves. Slip in side and you’ll find a chest with the Crystal Ember tucked safely inside. Bringing this Ember to the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo will let you:

  • Modify +10 normal weapons up to +5 crystal

Large Flame Ember

Take The Less Traveled Path

Fittingly, the Large Flame Ember is located in the burning Demon Ruins. Moving forward from the bonfire, take the first right you can through an area with plenty of columns and down a flight of stairs, either killing or avoiding the bulbous enemies here. Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, a Taurus Demon will come lumbering your way.

You can choose to either fight it or move past it and take the path to the left at the base of the stairs, but just know that there are two more Taurus Demons waiting for you there. Follow the path, and at the very end, there will be a gross jump scare and a chest with the Large Flame Ember there. If you head to Vamos in the Catacombs, he can:

  • Modify +5 fire weapons up to +10 fire

Chaos Flame Ember

Sleeping In A Warm Bed

Also located in the Demon Ruins, the Chaos Flame Ember is the final Ember in the game. In order to get this Ember, you’ll have to have beaten the Ceaseless Discharge boss first. From the bonfire, head straight and down the curving path until you reach the lava fields. Follow the left hand side of the pool until you find an army of Taurus Demons.

Pick off the Demons one by one with a ranged weapon, or go all in, whichever you feel is best. Once the way is clear you’ll see an item sitting in the middle of a bed of lava. There’s not much room for error here since you’ll take a huge amount of damage wading into the lava, but using an item like the Flame Stoneplate Ring will significantly boost your fire defense, as well as the Orange Charred Ring, letting you roll in, grab the Ember, and roll out with a little bit of life remaining.

You can of course use the Flash Sweat spell as well for an even better flame defense.

Once you have the Ember, Vamos can use it to:

  • Modify +5 fire weapons up to +5 chaos
