Netflix has revealed the Squid Game: Unleashed Season 2 content roadmap, which the company plans to release to players throughout January 2025. The upcoming content drops include new characters and events inspired by the second season of Squid Game, among other novelties.
Developed by Allen, Texas-based Boss Fight Entertainment, Squid Game: Unleashed is a free-to-play battle royale game based on Netflix’s megapopular show. Released for mobile devices on December 17, it quickly established itself as a significant hit, currently ranking as the most popular action game on the iOS App Store and the third most popular free action game on the Google Play Store. Aside from being based on an incredibly popular IP, Squid Game: Unleashed likely partially owes its success to the fact that it’s playable even without a Netflix membership, which is a rarity for games published by the popular streaming service.

Squid Game Season 3 Has A New Eerie Teaser
Squid Game season 2 was a huge success on Netflix, and now season 3 of the fascinating and gripping series has a brief teaser that fans can check out.
Now that the second season of Squid Game is here, Netflix opted to expand SG: Unleashed with some themed content, which the company plans to release in stages over the coming weeks. The first arrivals are scheduled for January 3, when SG: Unleashed will receive a new game called Mingle. Much like its name implies, this mode is inspired by the eponymous game from the second season of the show, which will require players to quickly form into groups and reach a safe room within a time limit.
January 3 will also see the SG: Unleashed roster expand to include Jang Geum-ja, one of the new characters from Squid Game Season 2. The friendly old lady and devoted mother will be unlockable by participating in the Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event, which is scheduled to run between January 3 and January 9.
As soon as that event ends, another one is set to begin in the form of Thanos’ Red Light Challenge. Like the name suggests, the main reward for completing this promo will be Choi “Thanos” Su-Bong (Player 230), the chaotic and charismatic rapper portrayed by controversial musician T.O.P. in the second season of Squid Game. Success in this event, which will run until January 14, will require efficient use of knives to eliminate other players in order to earn points. SG: Unleashed is adding yet another Season 2 character, Park Yong-sik (Player 007), on January 16.
The battle royale game is also offering players digital rewards for every episode of Squid Game Season 2 they complete. These goodies range from in-game currency to Wild Tokens, which are used for spinning the SG: Unleashed prize wheel. Watching the entire second season will also net viewers a unique reward in the form of the Binni Binge-Watcher Outfit.
