Splinter Cell Fans Are Underwhelmed By Fortnite Crossover Rumors

Splinter Cell Fans Are Underwhelmed By Fortnite Crossover Rumors

You might think there’s not much left for Epic to pull from when it comes to potential Fortnite crossovers, but there are plenty more fish in the virtual collab sea. New rumors about who or what might be coming to Fortnite next spring up all the time, and chatter surrounding a potential Splinter Cell crossover hasn’t generated the kind of reactions Ubisoft will have been hoping for if it’s really in the works.

There is no game, movie, or show obscure enough that its Fortnite crossover potential hasn’t at least been discussed. Apologies Splinter Cell fans as you’re clearly upset enough as it is, but 12 years on from the last game in the series, it’s starting to fall into obscure territory. According to Fortnite leakers Shiina and Shpeshal_Nick, Splinter Cell is on what is likely a long list of upcoming Fortnite crossovers, and most fans of the series don’t seem to care.

Not only have Fortnite’s Lego sets finally found their way onto Amazon, but all of them come with a big in-game bundle starring Brite Bomber.

Nick shared the rumor more than a week ago, however, it appears to have flown under the radar for a lot of people thanks to the holidays. Since the rumor has been recirculating, more Splinter Cell fans have been reacting, and those reactions tend to range from underwhelmed to downright annoyed.

Sam Fisher’s Potential Arrival In Fortnite Isn’t Cause For Celebration

Not Until Ubisoft Tells Us When That Remake Will Be Here

News that a lead character from a series you love that has been lying dormant for well over a decade is returning, but only as a Fortnite skin, would be pretty annoying all by itself. However, Ubisoft’s promise that a Splinter Cell remake is on the way more than three years ago with little to no updates since has just made Sam Fisher stans even more annoyed that it’s more likely he returns via Fortnite in 2025 as opposed to his own game.

Even though the crossover hasn’t been officially confirmed, some have already labeled it a desperate cash grab by Ubisoft after a difficult year for the studio. That rather than focus on finishing and releasing the remake, Ubisoft has seen an opportunity to capitalize on those desperate for a new Splinter Cell game by adding Fisher to Fortnite instead.

There has been a silver lining pointed out by one optimistic fan of a different dormant Ubisoft series. Right now, Assassin’s Creed‘s Ezio is the only character from a Ubisoft game in Fortnite. The hope is that if Ubi shows it’s more willing to work with Epic by teaming up for a Splinter Cell crossover, a Rayman skin might soon follow. Knowing Rayman fans the way I do, I’m almost certain they’d be a lot happier about a Fortnite skin than Splinter Cell fans are about Fisher’s rumored arrival.
