Many mobile players were heartbroken at the announcement of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp’s closure. Fortunately, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete acts as a perfect offline replacement for the initial mobile game. This new entry into the Animal Crossing franchise launched on December 2, 2024, and has already distinguished itself from its predecessor in some key ways.
The original Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp launched in 2017 and is one of many mobile Nintendo ventures that have been shut down. Pocket Camp closed down on November 28, 2024, but players are able to transfer their save data from Pocket Camp to Complete for a limited time.

Premium Currency in Pocket Camp Complete is Different From its Predecessor
One of the main draws of any Animal Crossing game is decorating. For previous titles, this has meant decorating a village, in the case of New Horizons players decorate an island, and Pocket Camp players get to decorate their own campsites.
With Pocket Camp Complete’s offline shift, some changes have been implemented when it comes to decorative items. Namely, unlike its predecessor, Pocket Camp Complete does not use certain premium currencies like Leaf Tickets. The lack of microtransactions in Pocket Camp Complete has received a positive reception from players despite this new version costing money.
Since Complete has replaced the original Pocket Camp, it’s unlikely that this shift away from microtransactions will affect the quality of new items added to the game. There are still two different kinds of currency in Pocket Camp Complete, the standard Animal Crossing currency of Bells and Leaf Tokens, which have mostly replaced Leaf Tickets in name. Players can exchange Bells for Leaf Tokens, unlike Pocket Camp’s Leaf Tickets, which could cost real-world money.
Because Pocket Camp Complete has come up with a non-microtransaction alternative to Leaf Tickets, the game can still add premium-quality furniture and clothing items without impacting players’ wallets. Therefore, the quality of items in Pocket Camp Complete will remain the same as the original Pocket Camp.
New Forest-Themed Items are Coming to Pocket Camp Complete This Month
This makes January’s slew of new items in Pocket Camp Complete all the more exciting. These items were first announced in a post from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete’s X (formerly Twitter) account. Villagers Beau and Cally stand in front of a wide variety of items that arrived in the game on January 1.
Some of the items featured in the drop include an egg-shaped hanging chair, a cuckoo clock-shaped bird house, a new tree stump bed, a large Japanese-inspired kotatsu table, and various other leafy items. These new pieces can be purchased with Complete Tickets, another Pocket Camp Complete exclusive premium currency. Once again, this new form of currency does not cost real world money and can be obtained through Gulliver’s Ship or certain events.
Players are particularly interested in the new white bird that appeared in the drop’s announcement. This white bird seems to not only be a physical item in itself that can be placed, but is featured as a motif on several of the items in the January drop. Beau and Cally also interact with several white birds in the announcement piece. Though it may be a long shot, maybe new critters like this bird will appear in future drops or become a larger staple in Pocket Camp Complete.
New Fortune Cookies
A new set of fortune cookies are also part of this January drop. Fortune cookies are essentially a themed mystery box that can drop certain items. Most fortune cookies are themed to the various villagers in Pocket Camp, with the corresponding mystery items typically themed to the same villager as the fortune cookie itself. It seems that the fortune cookie related to the January drop may give players a chance at earning items from this new release.
Ultimately, this new line of furniture headed to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is proof that the game can continue to add items just as cute as its predecessor.
The Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp game was released in 2017. This one-time purchase app is packed with items and events that were released over the course of 7 years. It keeps the general game play of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp without additional in-game purchases.
