Every Fire Character You Can Get In Honkai: Star Rail, Ranked

Summary

  • Characters in Honkai: Star Rail have specific paths and combat types affecting their play style and effectiveness.
  • Fire characters have seen significant changes in meta with the release of Firefly, shifting the type’s position.
  • Some characters like Himeko and Topaz struggle in the meta due to their kits and reliance on specific conditions.

Whenever you get a certain character in Honkai: Star Rail, you’ll realize that they have a specific path and combat type. While the path decides their general play style, the combat type is also important since you can only shred an enemy’s Toughness bar if your character’s combat type matches their Weakness.

Honkai Star Rail: All Destruction Characters, Ranked

If you’re looking to build a DPS character in Honkai: Star Rail, the Destruction path is your best bet due to the meta of the game.

Fire has been quite an interesting type ever since the game’s launch since it didn’t have a lot of good characters. However, this quickly changed with the release of Firefly in the Version 2.3 update, bringing the type to the top.

Updated on January 01, 2025, by Sanyam Jain: The developers of Honkai: Star Rail seem to have a favorite combat type ever since Firefly’s release since there have been various new Fire characters, with most of them supporting her play style. We’ve updated this list with all these characters.

Himeko

Erudition

When Honkai: Star Rail first launched, Himeko had a decent position due to her consistent attacks and AoE damage, but as players got to higher levels and endgame content, she quickly went all the way to the bottom. This was mostly because of the lack of damage numbers, especially with her reliance on Weakness Break, which doesn’t happen often.

However, Himeko indirectly got buffed with the release of Ruan Mei and the Pure Fiction game mode, where she can be quite phenomenal. Other than that, though, you might not find much use for her except for farming overworld mobs.

Hook

Destruction

This little kid has quite a lot of explosions in her pocket, which made her the go-to Fire DPS during launch. She can deal quite a lot of overall damage to multiple enemies while also applying the Burn effect and using it to buff her damage even further.

A well-built Hook can get you past quite a lot of content in the game, but she’s still a launch four-star unit at the end of the day. With the release of another Fire Destruction character during the Version 2.3 update, her position in the meta went down even more as the new unit was a five-star.

Guinaifen

Nihility

Guinaifen is one of the most ecstatic characters in Honkai: Star Rail, hailing from the Xianzhou Luofu. She’s a cheerful girl who loves streaming, and her kit mostly relies on dealing a bit of Fire AoE DMG while applying Burn on the enemies. However, when this Burn effect triggers, she also applies an effect called Firekiss on these enemies.

This effect allows your entire party to deal more damage to the respective enemies. While this can stack up to around 28 percent DMG boost, it’s still not good enough to compete with other supports. Though Guinaifen can be a great pick if you’re using a DoT-based team with Kafka or Black Swan.

8

Asta

Harmony

Harmony is one of the greatest paths in the game, but Asta still doesn’t appear at the top of the meta due to her kit being all over the place. She’s supposed to be a buffer, but her attacks can also apply Burn to the enemy, which deals damage based on her ATK. However, you won’t find much use for this.

Even after all of that, Asta has her place in some teams as she buffs the party’s SPD and ATK, making her another great team member for DoT-based compositions. Moreover, she can buff the Fire DMG dealt by your party, which also opens up the way to use her with Firefly if you don’t have better supports.

7

Topaz & Numby

The Hunt

Whenever you attempt one of the endgame modes in Honkai: Star Rail, you’ll commonly find yourself going against at least three enemies. On the other hand, characters on The Hunt path like Topaz rely on dealing damage to only one enemy at a time, which already brings her position down by quite a bit.

Topaz & Numby is quite a unique duo in Honkai: Star Rail, and here’s how you can build them to beat the hardest content in the game.

Moreover, Topaz doesn’t necessarily have a lot of damage from her kit and is supposed to be used more as a support since she can massively buff the follow-up attack damage to one enemy. While she is quite good in follow-up-based teams, there aren’t many single-target follow-up units in the game at the moment.

6

Fire Trailblazer

Preservation

Honkai Star Rail Physical Trailblazer Reaching Out

During the early days of Honkai: Star Rail, there weren’t a lot of choices to shield your characters and prevent them from taking damage. In these times, the game gave you Fire Trailblazer for free simply by progressing the story, and this unit can give your entire party a shield every time they take action.

While this shield might not be super strong, it gets the job done as you can apply it consistently. Moreover, the Fire Trailblazer’s Skill also allows them to taunt the enemy, forcing their attacks on them, which is very useful if the enemy has single-target attacks.

5

Gallagher

Abundance

Released in the fourth region of the stellar universe, Gallagher has a lot more in his kit than meets the eye. In a normal team, Gallagher can provide a decent bit of healing to one unit with his Skill while also providing party-wide healing whenever an enemy with the Besotted effect is attacked.

However, the best team you can use him in is one relying on Break DMG alongside Harmony Trailblazer. Gallagher is phenomenal at breaking the enemy’s Toughness, and he can also deal a ton of Super Break DMG with the aforementioned character.

4

Jiaoqiu

Nihility

The Nihility path was supposed to highlight characters who can apply various debuffs on the enemies, but it got swarmed with DoT and other DPS characters after Silver Wolf’s release. Thankfully, the developers went back to their roots with Jiaoqiu as he’s a dedicated debuffer who only works to make the main DPS strong.

He applies a special field on the battle that applies a debuff on the enemies every time they get a turn, serving as a perfect partner for Acheron’s Ultimate stacks. However, if you use him outside of the Acheron team, he might not serve a big purpose and you’ll likely get a higher damage boost with various Harmony characters.

3

Fugue

Nihility

Honkai Star Rail Fugue ultimate animation with intimidating eyes.

Firefly and her team has been one of the best teams in Honkai: Star Rail’s meta ever since her release, and it just keeps getting better. Fugue is a phenomenal Break-based support that introduces a new mechanic to the general battle in the form of an extra Toughness that’s 40 percent of the total enemy Toughness.

You’ll start breaking this after the initial Toughness bar, and upon fully removing it, you can deal full Break DMG to the respective enemies for that attack. Other than that, she commonly allows allies to deal instances of Super Break DMG while also increasing the Break Effect for one ally.

2

Lingsha

Abundance

Every time a new sustainer gets released in Honkai: Star Rail, you’d think that it’s the last one you need since you only need two good sustainers. However, HoYoverse always does something special with them, making you want to pull for each one just like Lingsha.

This character can deal massive damage to the enemies in both Break-based teams with Break Effect and other teams with Crit. Apart from that, she consistently heals allies with her Skill, follow-up attack, and Ultimate. The beautiful animations of her follow-up and Ultimate are the cherry on top.

1

Firefly

Destruction

Finally, it’s no surprise that the fourth Stellaron Hunter released to Honkai: Star Rail tops the list of Fire characters. While she’s a main DPS in the game, you won’t see much damage from her at the start of the battle. Much like Gallagher, she heavily relies on dealing Break DMG to the enemy as her main source.

However, the catch is that she can deal extra Super Break DMG to the enemies when her enhanced attacks attack a Weakness Broken unit. This stacks up with the Super Break from Harmony Trailblazer and also opens a way for Gallagher in the team, making a perfectly deadly combination.
