Guide To All Minions You Can Get From Retainer Ventures In FFXIV

Minions are adorable little vanity pets that players can choose to have following them around in Final Fantasy 14, though they cannot be used in instanced areas. Minions can be obtained in a variety of ways, though most of them can simply be purchased from the Market Board if you don’t want to track them down yourself.

If you’re looking to score 100 points in each week’s Fashion Report challenge, we’ve got you covered right here.

Unfortunately, getting them from the Market Board often means paying out an obscene amount of Gil for them. So if you’re wanting to collect your own minions to save yourself some cash, here’s a list of every minion that can be obtained from Retainer Ventures.

Updated January 1, 2025: We’ve updated this guide to include the latest information and updated the available minions from Retainer Ventures.

What Are Retainer Ventures?

Choosing which Retainer Venture to send your retainer on in Final Fantasy 14.

Retainer Ventures are errands that you can send your retainer NPCs on in order to retrieve items.

In order to be able to access Retainer Ventures, players must have first completed the ‘The Scions of the Seventh Dawn’ main scenario quest and have at least one retainer in their employ.

After this, players must complete a sidequest in order to unlock Retainer Ventures. The quest is dependant on the home city-state of the player, with each quest as follows:

Limsa Lominsa

‘An Ill-conceived Venture’ given by the Troubled Adventurer in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:9, Y:11).

Gridania

‘An Ill-conceived Venture’ given by the Troubled Adventurer in New Gridania (X:11.8, Y:12.2).

Ul’dah

‘An Ill-conceived Venture’ given by the Troubled Adventurer in The Steps of Nald (X:9, Y:8).

You can send your retainers on Ventures from any Summoning Bell. If you have multiple retainers, you can send each of them out on their own Venture. Sending your retainer out on Ventures costs money — a special type of currency called Ventures.

Your retainer’s level and equipped gear can affect the rarity, quality, and quantity of the items they retrieve while exploring. There is a range of Retainer Venture options, dependent on the class and level of your retainers. Additionally, most types of Ventures have a range of levels, with your player being able to access higher level Ventures as their own class levels up.

Ventures take a set number of hours to complete, that’s real-world hours, unfortunately.

Therefore, some of the longer ventures should be started before you go to bed or leave for work, so you’re not just waiting around for your Retainer to return.

However, you can choose to cancel a Venture early, though you won’t receive a reward.

All Minions Obtained from Retainer Ventures

Obtaining a minion as a reward from a venture in Final Fantasy 14.

Whenever you send your retainers out on certain Ventures, there is a random chance they will bring back a minion. Minions retrieved from Ventures are rare, so they are particularly coveted and usually fetch a good price on the Market Board. Even if you don’t want to keep the minion for yourself, you can make a tidy profit from selling them.

If you’re just looking to get the minion for your own collection and not having much luck, of course, this also means you can simply buy any of the Venture minions from the Market Board as well.
