What to Expect From the Assassin's Creed Franchise in 2025

Ubisoft has had a rough 12 months. Despite its brand recognition, last December’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was forgotten about the moment it released. Skull and Bones wasn’t worth the eight-year wait. The Division Heartland was canceled. Star Wars Outlaws didn’t meet expectations. And over 700 employees were laid off, including some of the team responsible for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, one of Ubisoft’s only critical successes this year. More so than ever, Ubisoft needs Assassin’s Creed.

There are currently at least six major Assassin’s Creed projects in development at Ubisoft, and it’s probably time for the publisher to reveal some of those games.

The next flagship release for the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows was originally meant to come out in November, but just weeks before launch it was delayed out of the year. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now set to release on February 14, 2025, in an incredibly busy month for video game releases.

With its release date just around the corner, fans already know quite a bit about what they can expect from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. After decades of rumors and dreaming, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally taking players to Sengoku period Japan, where they’ll get to control dual protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. While Naoe will offer a more traditional stealth-based approach, Yasuke is more combat-oriented. Players can expect another massive open-world to explore, filled with side activities and collectibles.

Assassin’s Creed Jade Might Resurface in 2025

Originally announced in September 2022 (alongside many of the games discussed later), Assassin’s Creed Jade is an upcoming mobile-exclusive entry. This game will see players explore 3rd Century BC China and defend its citizens against the Xiongnu, a tribe of nomadic warriors who conduct raids throughout China. In a franchise first, Assassin’s Creed Jade will let players create their own custom character.

Assassin’s Creed Jade was originally intended to release in 2023, but it was delayed. According to a March 2024 report from GameSpot, Assassin’s Creed Jade is now expected to release some time in 2025.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Could Get Another Teaser in 2025

Announced back in September 2022, Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe hasn’t been heard from in over two years. Hexe‘s initial cinematic trailer hinted at a much darker tone than the franchise has normally seen, with it teasing a 17th-century Holy Roman Empire setting, specifically one set amid the infamous witch trials. Assassin’s Creed: Hexe could receive a full reveal in 2025.

Assassin’s Creed Invictus Could Get a Reveal in 2025

Even less is known about Assassin’s Creed: Codename Invictus. Said to be some kind of multiplayer game, likely a live-service one, Assassin’s Creed: Codename Invictus hasn’t even received a brief cinematic teaser. Though leaks and rumors surrounding the game are starting to become more frequent, it seems unlikely fans will see Assassin’s Creed Invictus anytime soon, though there’s a chance it could receive some kind of teaser in 2025, likely during the Ubisoft Forward event in the summer.

Once codenamed Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the Animus Hub is an upcoming live-service platform that will host Assassin’s Creed games moving forward. Though it hasn’t been fully confirmed, it’s believed the Animus Hub will launch alongside Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

An Assassin’s Creed 4:Black Flag Remake Could Be On The Horizon

While it hasn’t been officially revealed in any capacity, rumors surrounding an Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake have been circulating for almost a year now. According to an October report by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, the Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake was originally targeting a November 2025 release date, though AC Shadows‘ delay may have impacted that. If the remake exists, fans will hopefully at least see a reveal next year.
