Summary
- A Dragon Age: The Veilguard modder is making the game less frustrating to play across the board, releasing several mods that make it faster.
- This includes mods that let you jump further and run faster, as well as another mod that removes drowning.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard brought back jumping from Dragon Age: Inquisition, and made a fair amount of improvements too. For starters, Rook will make an effort to cling onto ledges and put in a bit of extra effort to make longer leaps.
However, it’s still far from perfect, prompting one player to do something about it. Nexus user Gabett has released a whole bunch of mods that make the game less frustrating, including some that target traversal. This includes letting Rook run around a little faster, and thankfully, jump higher.

Finally, we can get rid of those drowning animations
Gabett has released multiple mods which make the game easier to play, like letting you earn XP faster or freely access any skills on the level-up screen, but one of the most popular recent releases improves Rook’s jumping. With this mod, you can jump up to twice as far as usual, helping you make leaps you’d otherwise be struggling against.
Then, there’s a mod that sounds absolutely perfect for that one part of Arlathan Forest – No Drowning Animation and Walk Underwater. This does exactly as the name suggests, removing the need to avoid any body of water that reaches your shins. For some reason, Rook is so afraid of water in the base game that a small lake will cause them to drown, so this gives you a bit more freedom.
If you’re still looking for improvements, there’s Faster Movement Speed, which lets you zoom around the map. Admittedly, The Veilguard doesn’t have Inquisition’s huge maps, but this would make having to backtrack for a side quest much easier.
Whatever you’re after, The Veilguard is amassing a healthy modding community. There’s no shortage of mods out there, whether you want something practical – or want Solas to sport clown makeup for the entire game. So, go wild.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the long-awaited fourth game in the fantasy RPG series from BioWare formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. A direct sequel to Inquisition, it focuses on red lyrium and Solas, the aforementioned Dread Wolf.
