Pokemon Fan Creates Regional Form for Pidove

Pokemon Fan Creates Regional Form for Pidove

Summary

  • A fan-designed regional form for Pidove, a Normal/Flying Pokemon, is introduced as a Flying/Fairy-type, known as the “Peace Dove Pokemon.”
  • The new Pidove features primarily white coloring, blue eyes, pink accents, and a heart-shaped chest symbol, symbolizing hope and love.
  • Fellow fan suggests the ability “Peace Bringer,” which lowers an opponent’s attack if Pidove doesn’t use a damaging move.

A creative Pokemon fan has created a regional form for Pidove, giving the bird a visual and typing overhaul. The charming Pokemon fan creation has appealed to other players, with some even sharing ideas on what kind of abilities it could have.

The seventh generation of Pokemon games introduced regional forms, which are a take on real-world adaptations some animal species undergo when relocated. While many Pokemon now have at least one regional form, there’s seemingly always room for more, with players coming up with their own ideas that could fit into a Pokemon game.

Reddit user and artist qobrosii has shared their concept for a Pidove regional form, switching the Pokemon’s typing from Normal/Flying to Flying/Fairy-type. The regional form leans further into the idea of Pidove being an actual dove, rather than a pigeon, though the two real-world species are related. While the overall shape of the Pokemon is roughly the same as its original form, this Pidove is now mostly white, with blue eyes and pink accents. Changing the heart-like shape on its chest to pink makes it more prominent, and an addition of a feather twisting into a heart shape over its head ties into the look. This Pidove is referred to, fittingly, as the “Peace Dove Pokemon” that serves as a symbol of hope and love.

Pokemon Fans Share Ideas About Regional Pidove and Its Final Evolution

Fellow players seem to like the idea of this regional variant, with one suggesting the ability “Peace Bringer” for it. The ability would trigger whenever Pidove doesn’t use a damaging move on its turn, lowering the attack of the opponent Pokemon. Qobrosii seemed to like the idea, and shared some of their own regarding Pidove’s final evolution. Their regional Pidove has a tendency to appear at weddings, signaling a prosperous marriage, and fittingly, its final evolution, Unfezant, would have a bride and groom version depending on the Pokemon’s gender.

Unfortunately, prior leaks have shown that the developers of the Pokemon games purposefully avoid releasing any Pokemon that are similar to fan designs. Accordingly, this regional variant will most likely remain in the domain of fan creations. Obviously, The Pokemon Company, Game Freak, and Nintendo don’t want to be accused of stealing ideas. However, some fans have complained about recent official Pokemon designs, so some fans would probably like to see the developers take a little more inspiration from the creativity of their fans.
