A brand-new mod for Grand Theft Auto 5 has added a fully functioning version of Grand Theft Auto 4‘s Liberty City map, complete with pedestrians, vehicles, ambiance, and more. The mod is available to download for free for both Grand Theft Auto 5‘s single-player and for FiveM, a popular online component that allows fans to play on customized and dedicated servers with a variety of mods and special features.
Despite being over a decade old, Grand Theft Auto 5 remains one of the most popular video games on the market. In its eleven-year life cycle, Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold 205 million copies, according to Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, making it the second-best-selling video game of all time. While Minecraft remains the best-selling video game of all time with 300 million copies sold, it could have some stiff competition in the coming years as Rockstar Games is currently gearing up to release the next installment in the GTA franchise, Grand Theft Auto 6, which has a release window of Fall 2025.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Mod Adds Fully Functional Liberty City Map
As fans patiently await the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, a group of modders have released a massive new mod for Grand Theft Auto 5 that is sure to keep fans entertained until the next entry in the critically acclaimed series. The Liberty City Preservation Project has been developed by a group of modders and can be downloaded for free via the World Travels Discord. While there are other mods that accomplish the same thing, the Liberty City Preservation Project has a ton of features that make it stand out from the rest, including a fully functioning mini-map, the ability to seamlessly teleport between Los Santos and Liberty City, an operational public transport system, authentic travel and pedestrians, and so much more.
According to the mod’s developers, the Liberty City Preservation Project aims to bring all aspects of Grand Theft Auto 4 into GTA 5, including the map, vehicles, pedestrians, interiors, ambiance, radio stations, and much more. The developers also state that the mod “works flawlessly” alongside Grand Theft Auto 5‘s single-player campaign, allowing users to continue playing the game as normal. Unfortunately, for those looking to jump in via a FiveM server in Grand Theft Auto 5, Liberty City will completely replace Los Santos “due to technical limitations” inside of FiveM.
Liberty City inside of Grand Theft Auto 5 is something fans have been begging for ever since the title was released all the way back in 2013. While it is now a reality thanks to a fan-made mod, leaks and rumors suggest that Rockstar Games was once working on a canceled GTA 5 DLC that would have added the map into the game. Unlike this epic new mod, Rockstar’s implementation of Liberty City in GTA 5 would have likely added a whole new set of story missions for players to complete.
