Summary
- A Marvel Rivals leaker with a good track record has claimed the game will be getting Capture the Flag.
- Rivals has four modes at the moment – Convoy, Conquest, Dominance, and Convergence.
- The rumored new mode might mean a request for a Capture the Flag-style mode where players battle for the Infinity Gauntlet might be fulfilled.
Marvel Rivals‘ first month has been huge and despite it seeming as if there was no more room on the live service bus, turns out an Overwatch-inspired hero shooter filled with heroes and villains known the world over is the exception to the rule. Netease will need to keep Rivals feeling fresh if it wants to retain the 20 million players it has already attracted though, and one of the ways it may do that is by adding Capture the Flag.
Rivals currently has four match types- Convoy, Convergence, Domination, and Conquest. Even if it doesn’t feel like it, most will tire of that rotation, and some of you might be hitting that wall already. If you are already waiting for something new, X0X_LEAK (thanks, ComicBook), a Rivals leaker who has previously relayed accurate information about the game, comes bearing good news, claiming a Capture the Flag mode is in the offing.

Just when you’re about to give up on Rivals because you’re not very good, here come the bots to make you feel like a superhero again.
According to the leaker, the mode will be called Infinity Crisis and will presumably be similar to iterations of Capture the Flag in other games. Each team has a flag and must guard it back at their home base while simultaneously venturing into the enemy base and trying to steal their flag. None of the details about how Capture the Flag might work in Rivals were included in the leak, but it will likely be similar to how it works in other games.
Marvel Rivals Might Be Getting Its Own Take On Capture The Flag
Hopefully With An Infinity Gauntlet For Teams To Fight Over
The mode potentially being called Infinity Crisis might mean players are tasked with battling over the Infinity Gauntlet rather than traditional flags. If so, a request players have had for the game before they even started playing it might be fulfilled. In between Rivals’ reveal and its summer beta, Marvel fans suggested a Capture the Flag mode in which two teams battle over the iconic Infinity Gauntlet on the game’s subreddit. Seven months later, we may well see that idea come to fruition.
Rivals is still in its first season – Season Zero, so don’t get confused when Season One begins – which means we’re only seeing the beginning of what this game might become if its success is sustained. Even though none of the new roster additions have been officially confirmed, in-game looks at the likes of Human Torch and Mr. Fantastic have already been shared online. Smart additions whenever they happen as the longer into 2025 Netease waits to make them available, the closer their arrivals will potentially be to Fantastic Four hitting cinemas.
