It’s only appropriate that Palworld ends 2024 on a high. The survival-collect-’em-up with guns made huge waves at the start of the year, attracting millions of players on Steam, and now it’s roared back up the charts thanks to a substantial update.
The combination of survival game and rounding up critters made Palworld an absolute sensation in January and February. before a steady decline due to other new games arriving. Pocketpair’s Pokémon-inspired open-world game is once again in prominence on Steam, due to a wealth of additions as part of the Feybreak expansion.
These include the eponymous island, an entire region to explore and figure out, the start of a collaboration with building game Terraria, and fresh resourse to mine and mechanics to understand. There’s a lot to dig into for players who are familiar, as well as those who haven’t jumped in yet. Whatever the case, over 200,000 Palworlders were playing at once in a recent post-rollout peak, according to SteamDb.
That’s since settled to around 137,000 at time of writing, placing Palworld right behind multiplayer game Marvel Rivals and Diablo-like RPG game Path of Exile 2. A surge that shows Feybreak is working as intended.
Led by Meowmere from Terraria, the up date introduces Chromite and Hexolite Quartz, new resources to be gathered, alongside Exhibitions, a new mechanic that allows you to send pals away on particular missions. Bounties and powerful predators are roaming the land now too, and you can enjoy it all in the newly-added hardcore mode if you want greater challenge too.
In addition to more weapons and items, and the power to sit – yes, sit! – there’s plenty even if you think you’ve seen everything on offer. What better way to ring in 2025?
