How to Unlock Hideout in Path of Exile 2

How to Unlock Hideout in Path of Exile 2

A Hideout in Path of Exile 2 is a personal, customizable hub area where all crafting facilities, merchant NPCs, and the end-game mapping function can be accessed. Players who haven’t yet unlocked their hideout will want to know how to go about obtaining one of their own.

Luckily, the process of unlocking a Hideout is fairly simple, though you’ll have to wait until the end-game to do so. Here’s how.

How to Unlock Your Hideout in Path of Exile 2

After completing the campaign and reaching the end-game, you will be asked by Doryani to start the ‘mapping’ phase of the end-game in order to obtain Atlas Points and reclaim Wraeclast. Hideouts are special ‘map nodes’ indicated by a unique light blue flower-shaped icon (screenshot below).

Use any Waystone to enter a Hideout map node, and clear it of monsters to unlock your very own Hideout. You’ll be able to freely travel to your Hideout after it is unlocked by clicking its icon on the far right of the fast travel map menu or by typing /hideout in the chat.

Use a Tier 1 Waystone to unlock Hideouts because these maps are very small and have few rare monsters, making them not worth the investment of higher-tier Waystones.

How to Change Hideouts in Path of Exile 2

Currently, four different Hideouts tilesets (Skins) are available to unlock in Path of Exile 2. To unlock a new tileset, you’ll need to find and complete a new Hideout map node with that tileset. The following hideouts can be unlocked:

  1. Felled Hideout
  2. Limestone Hideout
  3. Canal Hideout
  4. Shrine Hideout

After you unlock a new Hideout, you’ll be able to change to it by talking to Alva. Choose the ‘Select Hideout’ dialogue option when talking to her, and swap to the one you prefer.

If you’re a part of a guild that has a Guild Hideout, you’ll be able to visit and use it before reaching the end-game by clicking on the Guild Hideout button on the right edge of the map screen.

How to Customize Hideouts in Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2 offers players a way of decorating their Hideouts to suit their tastes. To do so, enter your Hideout and click on the small arrow icon next to the skills hotbar (pictured above).

With this, you can move, rotate, and flip everything in a Hideout, including the NPCs. Adding new decorations, crafting benches, and unlocking NPCs is possible by clicking on the Decorations tab. Additionally, you can import existing Hideout designs or export your own from the same menu.

To return a Hideout to its original layout, click on ‘Reclaim All’ -> ‘OK’ -> ‘Use Default’.

Use the customization feature to move useful NPCs like Doryani (to identify items), Ketzuli (Disenchant items), and Alva (Currency Exchange) closer to the map device, as well as the Stashes and Waypoint, so that you don’t have to move between these NPCs and crafting benches every time you complete a map. It’s a huge QoL feature, and one every player should make use of in order to make the best use of their time.
