How To Unlock Odds and Ends

Odds and Ends quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To trigger the “Odds and Ends” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you must first complete Merlin’s “The Dark Castle” and “The Remembered” quests. These are the final two quests in the initial part of the main story that focuses on “The Forgetting”, wherein you confront the Forgotten inside a dark version of the Dreamlight Castle. After completing “The Dark Castle” quest, watching a celebratory cutscene, and seeing the credits roll, you can start “Odds and Ends” by locating and speaking with Merlin, who suggests you talk with the Forgotten.

Talk To the Forgotten

The first objective in “Odds and Ends” is to check in to see how the Forgotten is feeling after what took place in “The Dark Castle” and “The Remembered.” . You can find the Forgotten standing near the wishing well in the Plaza. Chat with the Forgotten to tick off this objective, who says you can visit by traveling to the Dark Castle anytime. However, it’s time to deal with the Orb of Remembrance first.

After completing “Odds and Ends”, the portal to the Dark Castle reappears in the same spot it first appeared in “The Dark Castle” quest – that is to say, to the left of the wishing well in the Plaza. The portal is hidden from view until you walk past, triggering its appearance. You can use the portal to visit the Forgotten anytime and complete various Forgotten Friendship Quests, beginning with “The Magic in Everything.”

Return the Orb of Remembrance to the Pillar in the Forgotten Lands

The second objective in “Odds and Ends” is to return the Orb of Remembrance to the Pillar in the Forgotten Lands. You can locate the Pillar on the west side of the Forgotten Lands biome, as pictured above. Interact with the Pillar and add the Orb of Remembrance from your inventory to the Pillar to trigger a short cutscene, restoring the Pillar to its former state and showing all the Night Thorns around the Dreamlight Castle vanishing at long last.

Talk to Merlin

The final step is to speak with Merlin, who tells you more about what’s next for the Valley and the effects of what’s happened. For instance, although you managed to help the Forgotten and save the Valley, Merlin says Night Thorns will continue to spawn. Ending the conversation with Merlin completes the “Odds and Ends” quest and rewards you with 1,000 Friendship points.

Provided you have already completed the other necessary prerequisites to begin Sally’s quest line, you should receive a letter in your mailbox that mentions some mysterious spiderwebs in the castle, which is a clue to kick off Sally’s quests. Of course, the main story isn’t over after ticking off “Odds and Ends”, as you can now progress and unlock Merlin’s next quest called “Between a Skull Rock and A Hard Place” by placing the Orb of Unity that appears in your inventory into the Pillar at Dazzle Beach. With so many characters and quests to complete in the Valley, you probably also still have many other friendship or DLC quests left to finish in a game that continues to evolve and grow.
