When they debuted in Helldivers 2, Firebomb Hellpods introduced another anarchic layer to the live-service PvE shooter. Missions like Eradicate or Blitz can take advantage of Firebomb Hellpods as their incendiary impact lays waste to all beneath them, and yet they can often do more harm than good if a squad is uncoordinated and calling in stratagems or Reinforcements in the vicinity of other players. Still, Helldivers 2 struck gold with this premise as pods in general have been underutilized apart from various colorway patterns and were in need of a refurbishment that could make them more exciting in gameplay.
Resupply Pods are a critical stratagem all players have access to in Helldivers 2. They aren’t absolutely necessary since players can scavenge ammunition, stims, and grenades in the environment, and yet resupply pods are a godsend when players are hunkering down at an objective and must rely on a reserve of resources. It’s even more fortuitous, then, that Helldivers 2’s latest Premium Warbond, Urban Legends, has debuted a new Booster with the effect of arming resupply pods and turning them into half-decent Sentries in a pinch.

Helldivers 2’s Armed Resupply Pod Booster is a Great Iteration on Pods
With only four Boosters available in any mission, Helldivers 2’s loadouts can boil down to restrictive metas fairly quickly as players choose what might be most ideal for a particular set of objectives. But, aside from general health or stamina Boosters in Helldivers 2, the newly unveiled Armed Resupply Pods is yet another example of a Booster that is pushing the envelope on creativity as well as quality of life.
Armed with a mounted AR-23 Liberator, Armed Resupply Pods basically ensure that players will have suppressing fire even if they’re on their own or waiting for an equipped stratagem to complete its cooldown. Resupply pods are usually called down as soon as their long cooldowns finish, and having them armed via this Booster is a nice bit of extra firepower to help mow down any enemies nearby and essentially behaves like a potential fifth Sentry in players’ loadouts.
Only time will tell now if the Armed Resupply Pods Booster will make its way into players’ loadouts on a permanent or semi-permanent basis. In the meantime, it’s intriguing to consider what it might mean regarding ordinary strategies and future metas.
The only downside to Helldivers 2’s Armed Resupply Pod Booster is that the turret’s ammunition is quite low.
Helldivers 2’s Armed Resupply Pods Change How Resupply Pods are Tackled
With an automated turret atop them, resupplies should no longer be called down on the backline where players hole up. Rather, Armed Resupply Pods should be on the frontlines where they can now contribute to damage dealt alongside other Sentries like the A/FLAM-40 Flame Sentry or the A/MLS-4X Rocket Sentry in Helldivers 2.
This makes it a bit trickier to actually collect supplies from the pod itself, but leaving it somewhere discrete or obstructed, such as behind a wall, or way back where enemies won’t be renders its turret useless unless an enemy manages to make its way back there. Either way, it’s a lovely new Booster that could likely become a fixture in certain missions—Helldivers 2’s Evacuate High-Value Assets mission, for one, is perfect for Armed Resupply Pods since players typically litter the environment with Sentries anyway to keep enemy waves at bay.
This Booster will hopefully prove effective and popular in Helldivers 2 because, if so, it’s possible that Arrowhead will consider applying Armed Resupply Pods’ turret mount modification for every pod players call in. Moreover, it would be interesting to see how pods can be iterated on in the future beyond a turret while players continue settling into the game’s newest enemy faction, the Illuminate, and ride around in Helldivers 2’s Fast Recon Vehicle.
