The world of GTA Online is celebrating the festive season, but one unsavory character is out to spoil the holiday spirit by randomly targeting players’ pockets.
GTA Online has been going strong for over a decade, and at the end of every year, Rockstar Games celebrates the holiday season with numerous additions to the multiplayer sandbox. Snow is a mainstay of GTA Online‘s year-end festivities, as well as holiday-themed clothing, liveries, collectibles, game modes, etc. In keeping with the Grand Theft Auto series’ satirical nature, Rockstar also came up with a character inspired by none other than The Grinch and started including it in GTA Online‘s holiday updates from 2022.

The inappropriately-named Grinch parody in GTA Online pops up as a random event where it emerges from a cloud of green smoke, runs up to an unsuspecting player, and robs some cash and snacks from their inventory. A new video posted to the GTA Online subreddit by user PenguinT22 shows that they were a recent target of the game’s notorious Grinch-inspired character. The encounter begins with the Grinch parody running up to the player’s car in GTA Online, pulling them out, and escaping with $10,000 and some snacks.

However, the troublemaker’s victory was short-lived, as it was hilariously mowed down (and presumably killed) by an NPC’s car seconds after running away from PenguinT22. GTA Online‘s rather dated NPC AI can often be frustrating to deal with, but every once in a while, the stars align to conjure up incredibly amusing moments like such in the game. Thanks to the NPC’s serendipitous accident, PenguinT22 likely got their stolen money and snacks back, as well as the Grinch parody’s outfit, which can only be obtained after killing it.
With the holidays in full swing, the GTA Online community is quite lively right now. With GTA 6 aiming for a fall 2025 launch, though, some have pointed out that this may very well be the last time they celebrate the festive season in GTA Online. Hopefully, Rockstar will keep its tradition of holiday updates intact for GTA 6‘s online mode. A new rendition of the Grinch parody character showing up in Leonida to rob GTA 6‘s online players sounds like a hilarious prospect.
