An unfortunate long-range hit from a zombie in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ended one player’s attempt to clear the Social Distancing challenge in an extremely frustrating way. The seemingly random nature of the hit underscored some of the problems facing players that tackle some of the toughest Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 challenges.
Players are well into the first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, unlocking new rewards and evaluating weapons changes for BO6 Season 1 Reloaded, the mid-season update. The update, alongside new events and announcements of DLC and other additions, builds on the now-traditional Call of Duty model of regular, occasionally overlapping updates to keep the game fresh. Dedicated players always have something new to do, whether that’s upgrading a new weapon, or tackling challenges new and old. Some of those challenges are harder than others. For example, the Black Ops 6 Zombies Dark Ops challenges can be particularly diabolical in nature, serving as genuine tests of player skill and endurance.

A Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 player discovers an annoying bug on the Terminus map that can quickly put an end to someone’s Zombies run.
The experience of Reddit user TheZ0MBIE4 underscores the frustration one can be subjected to on the “Social Distancing” Dark Ops challenge, which requires players survive 20 rounds of Zombies without taking damage. In a clip shared with the CODZombies subreddit community, TheZ0MBIE4 saw their attempt to earn the Black Ops 6 Calling Card ended by a seemingly random pile of zombie meat hitting them in the face.
Black Ops 6 Social Distancing Run Attempt Frustrated By Long-Range Meat Toss
The brief 13-second clip shows TheZ0MBIE4 on round 19 of the 20 needed to earn the Social Distancing achievement, ably blasting zombies from a rooftop on the popular Black Ops 6 Liberty Falls map. Though easily keeping the horde back using a semi-automatic shotgun, the run is ended when a small chunk of meat flies up from the bottom of the screen, only to hit and damage TheZ0MBIE4, thus ending the attempt. In Call of Duty Zombies mode, normal zombies that are unable to reach the player by walking or climbing will sometimes toss chunks of meat to cause damage at range.
Players watching the clip were greatly amused by the surprising range and accuracy of the zombie’s meat throw, since the thrower appeared to have been on the ground and could not see TheZ0MBIE4 fighting on the rooftop. TheZ0MBIE4 even joked about zombie emulating football quarterback Lamar Jackson with the toss. Most expressed their sympathies for the unlucky nature of the hit, as well as citing their own issues in trying to clear the toughest Black Ops 6 Dark Ops challenges.
Some also theorized that the meat toss could be a bug, since TheZ0MBIE4’s position was technically not beyond the zombies’ reach, meaning that the game shouldn’t have “allowed” the zombies to start using their ranged attacks. Finally, a few suggested a minor exploit used to get around Social Distancing’s strict clear requirements by abusing the game’s save system to leave a round and then reset it to try again. Sadly for TheZ0MBIE4, it was too late to save that particular run, and they plan another attempt soon.
