Black Ops 6 Players Aren't Happy With Free Store Rewards

Summary

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players call for better store rewards, such as various cosmetic items like stickers and charms.
  • Activision gives away double XP tokens almost daily in the Call of Duty store, but many are bored of the repetitive gift.
  • Call of Duty players are also convinced that there is once again an issue with the latest double XP event.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players are calling for Activision to update the game’s free store rewards with something other than just double XP tokens. While double XP events in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are highly anticipated by the community, players seem to be sick of receiving free tokens daily, as many want to see the return of other free cosmetic items, such as charms, stickers, and weapon blueprints.

Although the latest entry in Activision’s hugely popular Call of Duty franchise was a big success for the studio, even managing to outsell 2023’s Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6‘s player count is rapidly declining just two months after its release. The game’s player base on Steam has seen a 30% decrease in recent weeks, and although there’s no way to know for certain what the cause is, fans haven’t been happy with the game’s rampant bugs, server issues, and most importantly, the massive number of cheaters in Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s ranked play modes.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Want Better Store Rewards

Black Ops 6‘s double XP tokens are a great way to increase a player’s overall level, progress through the seasonal battle pass at a quicker rate, and max out a weapon’s level with ease. Unlike weapon blueprints, operator skins, and other cosmetic items, XP tokens cannot be purchased via the in-game store, but they are given away for free on most days. While Activision likely expected fans to appreciate the free tokens, players appear to be sick of the company’s lack of generosity as they call for the studio to stop the repetitive gifts and give away other cosmetic items, such as charms, stickers, and more.

With the latest Call of Duty now being two months old, plenty of Black Ops 6 players are closing in on Prestige Master, which means double XP tokens are largely redundant for many fans. While many casual players are sure to welcome free double XP tokens with open arms, the die-hard members of the community are calling for new gifts in the store. In a new post on Reddit, Xtinis73 sarcastically called Activision “generous” due to the repetitive free gift. Others, such as SlipsMcKenzie, pointed out that the holiday season would have been the perfect time of year to give away a special item in the store, as it is the season of giving, after all.

Fans’ complaints surrounding the free XP tokens come just days after the beginning of a new double XP event. The in-game event has activated a 2x XP rate for player level and weapon level until January 3, but not everybody is convinced that Black Ops 6‘s latest double XP event is actually working correctly. Since the game’s launch in October, it has become a common criticism from players that each double XP event isn’t delivering the correct XP rate. While Treyarch has previously admitted that these rates were incorrect and rectified in the game’s first event, fans still believe there’s an issue, but the studio has yet to issue a response on the matter.
