All DualSense Skins In Astro Bot, Ranked

In Astro Bot, your DualSense is responsible for quite a few things – besides literally controlling the character, we mean. Along with Astro, you’ll see your controller appearing in the game, with Astro using it to travel in space, and your controller is also responsible for storing rescued bots and recovered ship parts.

8 Best Levels In Astro Bot

Astro Bot has a lot of great levels, but these are the best.

Since your controller also appears in the game, Team Asobi went one step further and created skins for it, allowing you to customize your controller with quite a few color choices that range from golden versions to multicolored options filled with neon light and even a retro pick for the old-schoolers.

Updated on December 31, 2024, by Lucas Olah: Since its release, Astro Bot has had quite a few surprises. Along with the Game of the Year award and speedrun levels, we also got a Christmas-themed level with a bunch of presents to find. These presents came with extra bots, costumes, and DualSense colors, which is the reason for our update here. Four more options were added, so we must now decide where they’ll rank on our little list. And you get to see the new options, of course.

20

Shimmering Silver

Very Shiny

The DualSense in its Shimmering Silver skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

The DualSense gets a beautiful silver variation with blue lines for its details here. All in all, it’s quite a simple design, but it is a fun choice if you want to vary the controller’s looks a bit.

Still, this design is sadly not the best the game has to offer, as you’ll see in the other entries. The reflectiveness looks great, though.

19

Snowglow

With Pretty Lines

The DualSense in its Snowglow skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

This controller has a very simple aesthetic that resembles the default color but without blue parts, making it completely white. Well, almost completely, as it has multicolored lines around the touchpad, analogs, and wings.

Though the lines are a great addition, the controller still feels too much like the basic skin but not as colorful since all its multiple colors appear in thin lines.

18

Champion’s Gold

Fancy

The DualSense in its Champion's Gold skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

A common and popular type of skin in many games is to just paint things gold. Astro Bot does that both for the character and the DualSense, as they both have their gold variations.

Though being something rather simplistic, the design looks cool due to its reflection. Plus, you can match your controller and the character.

17

Cyber Canary

Make It Yellow

The DualSense in its Cyber Canary skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Cyber Canary is a mostly yellow controller with many green lines all over it, along with a bit of gray on the sides, just to mix things a bit.

We all know about Kratos, Ellie, and Aloy. But who is that chef guy, or the kid with the bug net?

While the design looks good, there’s just a bit too much yellow here. Perhaps a different color for the lower part of the controller would’ve made a difference.

16

Striking Scarlet

Make It Red

The DualSense in its Striking Scarlet skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Striking Scarlet follows the same logic as our previous pick and simply changes which colors the skin focuses on.

Here, we have red as the main color, with the lines now being blue, and finally, a bit of white on the sides. It has the same problem as the Canary does, but the color choices are better.

15

Jet Black

Does It Come In Black?

The DualSense in its Jet Black skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Jet Black is a beautiful rendition of the real-life black DualSense, but it’s also a bit more colorful than the real deal, thanks to the same multicolored lines we see in the Snowglow skin, around the same parts, including the wings – which the real controllers sadly don’t have.

The lines, we mean, not the wings, even though it would be cool if they had wings. This skin also works well if you’re wearing something a bit darker with Astro as well, such as the Bloodborne skin.

14

Hyper Lime

Make It Green

The DualSense in its Hyper Lime skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

This skin focuses on adding a new main color, similar to the Canary and Scarlet skins, but it does a better job of not exaggerating the new color.

Though here it only adds green and white, the white sub-color prevents the whole controller from just going completely green, making this one look a lot better.

13

Polygon Polychroma

Lines

The DualSense in its Polygon Polychroma skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

We’re back with a black controller, but with more details on it. And by details, we mean many lines all over it, giving it a nice old-school style to it and making it look like a flying optical illusion of sorts.

There’s not much else going for it, and you may even argue that it’s not as detailed as most here because all it has are the lines, but they do a good job of making this skin quite unique.

12

Original

If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It

The DualSense in its Original skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

We’re usually quick to dismiss the default because it’s the one we have since the beginning, and we want to see what else the game has available to us. However, the basic design with Astro’s iconic white and blue works well.

You also have the perk of having a DualSense skin that matches with one of Astro’s skins – the default one – which makes both options tempting. It’s nice to match your outfits, after all.

11

Urban Dash

Make It Yellow, Again, But Better

The DualSense in its Urban Dash skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

If you like yellow, you’re in luck; there’s another option for you, and it looks cooler than Cyber Canary. While it misses the neon lights, the yellow tone is better, and there’s more.

It also has more details on the sides, with red lines over it, and even Team Asobi’s logo on the wing, making it look a bit like a racing car or similar.

10

Hottest Pink

Make It Pink

The DualSense in its Hottest Pink skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

A few controllers use pink lights here and there, but this is the only one that uses pink in the controller itself, and it works exceptionally well.

It goes for a beautiful mix of pink and white, and it also has pink lights on a darker tone, so the pink light will still stand out on pink surfaces.

9

Electric Orchid

Make It Purple

The DualSense in its Electric Orchid skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Similar to Hottest Pink, purple isn’t a color often used in the controllers – save for lights. Thus, having a white and purple controller is a great addition.

It takes one step further, however, by having lights and buttons in different colors, making them all bigger standouts, as the lights are blue and the buttons are black.

8

Cobalt Dusk

Make It Blue

The DualSense in its Cobalt Dusk skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Cobalt Dusk focuses on blue and green, and it does a great job at that. All the black areas with green lights give it a unique futuristic vibe, and the blue just fits well with everything that is going on.

It’s a great choice to use darker colors while still using colors in the overall design of the controller.

7

Turbo Tangerine

Make It Orange

The DualSense in its Turbo Tangerine skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Turbo Tangerine follows a similar premise to Cobalt Dusk, offering a much better color variety than other similar options.

Its mix of orange and black works exceptionally well, and the lights aren’t just another shade of orange. It also helps that the buttons aren’t orange, so they stand out in the DualSense.

6

Glorious Grafitti

A Standout

The DualSense in its Glorious Grafitti skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Whether you agree or disagree with the ranking position here, a fact that remains is that this DualSense design is the most original one due to its uniqueness – at least until the Christmas DLC, but we’ll talk about that soon. Instead of different colors, it has many drawings on it.

The drawings mostly consist of Astro and the other bots who are dressed as some of Sony’s legacy characters, like Kratos, Nathan Drake, Aloy, Ratchet, and more.

5

Retro Royale

Another Standout

The DualSense in its Retro Royale skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

As stated, Glorious Grafitti got some competition thanks to a DualSense that has a similar premise: multiple drawings on it. This time, we have one that consists of 8-bit drawings of Astro, enemies, and power-ups from the game.

A smaller detail that makes this one stand out, too, is that the eyes on the Touchpad are also affected. They get pointy when closed and squared when opened, making them look like they’re from a retro character as well.

4

Gen 1

Blast From The Past

The DualSense in its Gen 1 skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Along with being a great game, Astro Bot pays a lot of homages to PlayStation’s past, from its games to its consoles. One of its coolest callbacks is a DualSense skin that resembles the original DualShock from the PlayStation 1.

We rank all the different powers you can use in Astro Bot.

Though it comes in a simple gray color, the callback is utterly beautiful, and the four main symbols come with their original colors – which we still don’t know why that’s no longer the default in real controllers. You need to rescue all the bots for this one, though.

3

Anti-Grav

The Perfect Mix

The DualSense in its Anti-Grav skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Who knew yellow was the color Astro is missing? This controller keeps the white and blue (albeit a lighter blue here) and adds a touch of yellow that even looks like gold, depending on the light.

It also has a cute Astro icon on the wing, which gives it its unique charm to it. Overall, it’s a very solid design here.

2

Neon Dream

Another Unique Design

The DualSense in its Neon Dream skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

We’re back with a black controller, but this time with a matte black take accompanied by blue, pink, and purple neon light all over it.

This combination of dark parts mixed with a very strong light in its base and buttons makes this DualSense very distinct from all other options here – it’s funny how many unique designs we have here that also don’t clash with one another.

1

Jolly Holly

A Great Present

The DualSense in its Jolly Holly skin at the crash site, from Astro Bot.

Astro got us a great gift with this DualSense skin. Between the choice of colors, the patterns, and the details, this controller looks fantastic.

It looks so good, in fact, that we wouldn’t mind if Sony decided to make a real DualSense using this design – though the same applies to many skins here. It doesn’t need to fly or anything; just the coloring is good enough.
