What to Expect For PS5 Games in 2025

The PS5 was released back in late 2020 but, thanks to initial shortages, it’s only been widely available in recent years. 2024 has been one such year, and it’s been filled with ups and downs for the PS5—with many lessons for Sony to learn.

As 2024 draws to a close, Sony’s position in the industry has only become more complicated. On the one hand, it won The Game Awards with Astro Bot, which caught the hearts and minds of many fans upon its release. However, it suffered a tremendous loss with the failure of Concord, in addition to receiving criticism surrounding the PS5 Pro. 2025 will be an opportunity for Sony to build on what’s worked from this year while redirecting from the pitfalls.

PS5’s 2025 Game Release Calendar

The PS5 is set to receive a barrage of major games over the next year, including big-ticket exclusives like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei. The console is also poised to be party to major AAA releases like Grand Theft Auto 6 and Borderlands 4, as well as ports of games already on the market—such as Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. A number of DLC releases are slated for 2025 too, including DLC for Atomic Heart, Dave the Diver, and Rain World.
