Renders have surfaced online that seem convincingly accurate as to what a Nintendo Switch 2 would supposedly look like. Rumors have been circulating in recent weeks about the upcoming successor to the Nintendo Switch, as the now almost eight-year-old console nears the end of its lifespan. Nintendo might officially reveal its next device any day in the coming months.

Nintendo Switch 2 rumors, like the image of a new Joy-Con controller with an additional button for the console, have been going viral in recent weeks. It’s unknown as to what this button does, but it appears under the Home button of the Joy-Con, and some on social media have speculated it to be a sort of “C-button.” C-buttons have been a staple of classic Nintendo controllers in the past, each serving a unique purpose, like extra navigational buttons on the N64 or a second joystick for extra actions on the GameCube. Whatever the purpose of this new button is, Nintendo fans can likely expect it to add something unique to the new console. The most recent leaked renders, which may not be real, show the new C-Button below the new Joy-Con’s Home button in a post that spread online.

When considering a previous analysis of what the console could look like, the images seem to match up with what has been said in the internet rumor mill. The Switch 2 render showed off a slick, curved design on the dock and console. The dock in the render holds the device lower, exposing some of the handheld screen on the Switch device while docked. A Nintendo Switch 2 logo appears on the front of the dock, and more stylized, sleek-looking Joy-Con renders have surfaced, with the previously mentioned “C-button” under the Home button. The images have some credibility, as previously leaked designs of the Nintendo Switch 2 that follow this pattern have been thought to be real. The Joy-Cons are also rumored to have improved analog sticks, potentially eliminating the drift issue the previous Joy-Con models had.

Additional images leaked of the Nintendo Switch 2 on Christmas Day this year. A convincing piece of Switch 2 hardware was shown. However, it had an AI-generated background, most likely to mask the identity of the leaker. The console looks to have a special connector that clips on from the new Joy-Cons shown in the renders. Assuming the leaked images are accurate, the new Joy-Cons could offer a more secure and comfortable fit with this updated connection method, complementing the rumored new analog sticks.

An abundance of details surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 have been pouring in at the end of this year. Some have said that Nintendo will have multiple versions of the Switch 2 with the usual color schemes. Versions would include a gray, white, and a special edition themed after a certain game, but this has yet to be confirmed by Nintendo.
